CL2201 – Second Year Projects

30 credits

In this module, you will complete two supplementary projects, related to two of the other
modules to which you have been allocated, one in each term; the department will designate
the term in which you do each particular project. Students will normally be assigned to
projects on their first two module choices, and you should bear this in mind when making
your choices.

Second year projects are available for the following modules this year:

 CL2353 Athenian Law and Social History

 CL2436 Homer (In Translation)
 CL2448 Power and the Individual in Ovid's Metamorphoses (spring term only)
 CL2463 Tacitus and the Making of Empire
 CL2488 Empire and its Others in Virgil's Aeneid (autumn term only)
 CL2715 Intermediate Greek (spring term only)
 CL2727 Advanced Greek (spring term only)
 CL2765 Intermediate Latin (spring term only)
 CL2777 Advanced Latin (spring term only)

Learning Outcomes:

1. To investigate and develop a theme related to their study of the classical world.

2. To organise and present material to an appropriate standard.

Projects are designed by individual course convenors and vary greatly in their style, and can
often include a more creative element; for more information, consult the person in charge
of the relevant module.
