 LASER THERAPY
The Class IV Laser can be used to address issues

of muscle soreness after exercise. Laser therapy
promotes cell proliferation while decreasing

Light particles penetrate deep into the tissue of the
mitochondria of the cells to promote fast healing by
increasing cellular metabolism. As the light is absorbed
into the cells, ATP and nitric oxide are released. ATP is
a molecule that facilitates in energy transfer. Nitric
oxide is a strong vasodilator which means it plays an
impotant role in improving blood flow.
Best results are seen with 2-3 treatments per week
alongside with therapy sessions. Typically 6-12 sessions
of lasering are recommended. Chronic conditions may
require more.

may cause the affected area to feel warm but it should
only last for about an hour. Improper dosing may cause

DRY NEEDLING
Dry needling uses the autonomic nervous
system to address physical pain and
dysfunction by specifically targeting
musculoskeletal pain. Sterile needles are
inserted into a trigger point to stimulate
the muscle and release tension. The
“twitch” response that occurs is believed
to help break the cycle of tension within
the muscle.
Physical Therapists integrate dry
needling as part of their treatment plan
to aid with muscle relaxation, enhanced
blood flow, improved range of motion,
and pain reduction. By triggering certain
parts of the muscle, dry needling allows
for improved joint mobility and flexibility.
While side effects are minimal, patients
may experience temporary soreness,
bruising or fatigue after a dry needling
session. Patients should be aware of the
procedure, its potential benefits and any
risks. Dry needling works best when
combined with other therapy modalities
to ensure a holistic approach to
rehabilitation.
