WESTFIELD ACADEMY INCLUSION POLICY

Dear Parents/Carers & Students,

Please see our inclusion policy below:

Isolation:

Isolation will be ran by our behaviour team to improve Behaviour of our

students you can get Isolation for:

Reaching isolation on behaviour ladder

Truancy
Refusal
Not following instructions etc.

Link:

The Link is a mix of the Behaviour Support Unit, the Learning Support Unit &
the Pastoral Support Unit so in the link we will have BSU, LSU & PSU students
together in lessons but LSU will still operate the same and we will pull some
students out for interventions but instead of it being only LSU students with
interventions it will be all of the students if they want one. With our Pastoral
Support Unit in the link we will have some students in mainstream if they like
even though this can happen with LSU and BSU the PSU students will have a
timeout pass for sure and if their timeout pass is used they can either go on a
walk or to the sensory room. This is also the same with LSU & BSU with timeout
passes but PSU get the counselling or mentoring option instead of
interventions but they are still allowed an LSU intervention if they would like.

SEN:

Special Educational Needs: This is for students with types of SEN that need
extra support in lessons. An example of a SEN Need is Autism. To get into SEN
either SLT have to place you into SEND or you have to ask your year team for a
referral! If you are to be found faking needs you will be removed from SEN with
immediate effect and possibly banned from Westfield Academy!
SEN & THE LINK STUDENTS CANNOT BE ISOLATED INSTEAD THEY WILL GO
TO THE SENSORY ROOM OR ON A WALK!

Internal Exclusion Unit:

An Internal Exclusion Unit (IEU) is essentially an all day isolation.

You will be put in a room with a classroom and isolation booths,
and will spend all day in there whilst taking part in separate
lessons from mainstream. This will not be open to everyone, and
students in the IEU will vary day to day.
