Births and Deaths Registration (Fees) (Amendment) Regulations,
2024 (No. 17)

IT is hereby notified that the Minister of Home Affairs and

Cultural Heritage has, in terms of section 26 of the Births and Deaths
Registration Act [Chapter 5:02], made the following regulations:—
1. These regulations may be cited as the Births and Deaths
Registration (Fees) (Amendment) Regulations, 2024 (No. 17).
2. The Second Schedule to the Births and Deaths Registration
(General) (Amendment) Regulations, 1988, published in Statutory
Instrument 94 of 1988, is repealed and the following is substituted—
“Second Schedule (Section 17)
FEES
(US$)
1. Searching records to any one year for any document….................... 1.00
2. Photocopying any document/page…................................................. 0.20
3. For each issue of:
(a) Initial birth certificate for persons of six years or younger........ Free
(b) Initial birth certificate for persons above six years.................... 5.00
(c) Initial death certificate................................................................ 2.00
(d) Certified copy of an entry of birth/death certificate................... 5.00
(e) An extract from an entry relating to a birth/death...................... 2.00
(f) A certificate not provided for elsewhere.................................... 2.00
(g) For altering a name in register and correcting an error.............. 5.00
(h) Correcting an error originating from the Department................ Free
(i) For a change of surname by notarial deed................................ 50.00
(j) For a change of surname by Registrar-General.......................... 5.00
(k) Authentication.......................................................................... 20.00
(l) Re-registration (for legitimacy purposes)................................ 20.00
(m) Urgent birth/death certificate.................................................... 10.00
(n) External birth certificate........................................................... 15.00
(o) Non-citizen birth certificate (initial)......................................... 10.00
(p) Non-citizen birth certificate (duplicate).................................25.00”.

3. The Births and Deaths Registration (General) (Amendment)

Regulations, 2009 (No. 15), published in Statutory Instrument 138
of 2009, are repealed.
