What is EIA?

• Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) is a process that assesses the potential environmental
impacts of a project or development. Its purpose is to protect the environment while promoting
economic and social development. EIA analyzes and evaluates the negative effects a planned activity
may have on the environment, including social consequences, and identifies measures to mitigate
these impacts. The goal is to strike a balance between economic growth and environmental
protection

• The EIA report, following EIA regulations, includes project details, environmental impact assessment,
mitigation measures, public participation, summary, and visual aids. Additional documents may be
required for the EIA application, such as project summaries, zoning status, property documents,
expert opinions, plans, maps, reports, permits, and administrative paperwork.
Introduction and Aim of Project
Project
Beypazarı Beverage Marketing Distribution Packaging
Tourism Petrol Insaat Sanayi Ve Tic. Inc. It is the Glass
Bottle Factory Project to be built by Ankara's Beypazarı
district.

Aim
The aim of the project is to establish a glass bottle
factory that will meet the need of 300 thousand mineral
water glass bottles per hour. It is also aimed to ensure
environmental sustainability by using 50% recycled glass
cullet in the factory, which will operate with fully Project Area

automatic machines in the factory with a closed area of

65 thousand square meters.

Introduction and Aim of Project
Materials
The factory will consist of steel and glass surfaces. The structure where the administrative units will be
located will be reinforced concrete.

Filling
Excavated soil will be used for filling works in the project area. The stored subsoil will be protected from
vehicle passage and facilities. Drainage will be ensured by placing subsoil piles, and openings will be
created for reasonable passages and to prevent water accumulation in low areas.

Capacity
The intended production of glass bottles is given in the table.
Introduction and
Aim of Project

Location
The factory will be established
in Ankara Province, Beypazarı
District, Başağaç Locality. The
area of the project is 25.55
hectares in total and is located
on certain parcels in the title
deed.

Introduction and Aim of Project
Identifying Areas to be Affected by the Project
Environmental, economic and social factors were evaluated
together and the areas that would be affected by the project
were determined. Factors such as construction and operation
activities, location of settlements, protected areas, water
resources, power lines have been taken into account. An
impact area with a radius of 4 km has been determined.

Project Impact Area.

The project played a role in determining the impact

area due to factors such as being close to the
Beypazarı Mineral Water Factory and access to
qualified personnel.

Introduction and Aim of Project
The project area is in an area far from the city and the settlement. There is an old wedding hall in the
project area.

Characteristics of
the Project Area

Geological Features
The project area in Beypazarı
district of Ankara is characterized
by the impermeable clay base of
the Urus Formation, which was
deposited in terrestrial and fluvial
environments. The region features
the Beypazarı monocline structure,
and a neotectonic regime with a
NW-SE narrowing effect is present.

Characteristics of
the Project Area

Hydrogeological Features
Groundwater potential in Ankara is
found in various regions. The
hydraulic conductivity values in the
project area are low. There are no
dams or streams in the immediate
vicinity, the nearest water wells are
in units containing clayey gravel.

Characteristics of the Project Area

Natural Disaster Status

There can be landslides, avalanches and floods in
Ankara. While there was no landslide and
avalanche problem in the project area, 154 floods
occurred. There is a flood risk in the project area.

Earthquake Risk Status

The project and its impact area are under the
influence of the North Anatolian Fault Zone (NAF)
and other tectonic structures in Ankara, Turkey. In
addition, a fault line located near Ankara increases
the earthquake potential in the region.

The area is located on the 3rd degree earthquake

line.

Impacts of the Project on the Area
Pollution of Project Area
In Ankara, air pollution is experienced due to intense urbanization, increasing number of motor
vehicles and irregular industrialization in and around the project area. Dams, water supply systems
and wastewater treatment plants are used for water resources. Noise pollution measurements
meet the limit values and soil quality analyzes have been made.
Impacts of the Project on the Area
Impacts and Measures of the Project on Flora - Fauna and Ecosystem
In order to reduce the effects on flora, fauna and ecosystem during the construction and operation
processes of the project, environmental pollution measures should be taken, examined by field
experts, dust and noise control should be done, and vegetative soil should be protected. and
rehabilitation works.

Contribution of the Project to the Socio-Economic Situation

Investments to be made in the region will stimulate the local economy and employment, while also
stimulating commercial activities. This will provide job opportunities and income increase for the
local people.
Result

The EIA report prepared in line with these

data was found positive in December 2022
and the project was moved to the next stage.

Beypazarı Mineral Water Factory project will

make a significant contribution to the region,
provided that measures are taken in line with
the principles of sustainability and reducing
environmental impacts. This report is a
guiding document for the project
stakeholders and relevant institutions, and it
is important to carry out appropriate
planning, monitoring and audit processes for
the successful implementation of the project.
