Communication
Part A [1 point]
Question 1: What is the main purpose of "Faraday's Law of Induction" experiment?
How is the average EMF induced in a wire coil affected by the rate at which magnetic flux
through the coil changes?
Investigate how the rate of change of magnetic flux through a coil affects the magnitude
and polarity of the average emf induced in it
and then determine a mathematical relationship between the two.

Part B (Measuring Magnetic Field): [0.5 x 2 =1 point]
Question 2: By using magnetic field sensor, what is the average value of the magnetic
field between ends of the horseshoe magnet (1 𝑔𝑎𝑢𝑠𝑠 = 0.1 × 10−3 𝑇)?

Magnetic field B24.78 𝑔𝑎𝑢𝑠 = 2.478𝑥10^ − 3𝑇𝐸𝑆𝐿𝐴___

Question 4: Use the following radiuses of the coil (𝑅 = 1.55 × 10−2 𝑚 for outer radius
and 𝑟 = 0.95 × 10−2 𝑚 for inner radius), to calculate the area of the coil (in m2). 𝐴𝑟𝑒𝑎 =

Question 9: Answer the following questions [0.5 x 4 = 2 points]

i. What do you expect are the reasons of the sources of errors?

Common sources of error in experiments include human error (e.g. inaccurate
measurements), systematic errors (resulting from flaws in the experiment design),
random errors (unpredictable factors affecting the results)

ii. If we increase number of turns in the coil wand, should we get high or low EMF?
Explain

If we increase the number of turns in the coil wand , the EMF should increase .
This is because , on increasing turns , the induced EMF will be sum of EMF's
produced in all individual loops . So it increases

iii. Why is the sign of the emf of the second peak opposite to the sign of the first peak?
(why is one positive and the other negative?)

The sign of Emf of Second peak is opposite to sign of first peak because it is sine
wave in nature .

For first peak it is Positive and then the sine wave reverses and reach Negative
Peak.

iv. Why is the emf zero when the coil is passing through the exact center of the
magnet?
Emf is zero when the coil is passing through the exact center of the magnet as there
is no magnetic flux at that moment. and Emf is induced when it experience a
change of magnetic flux.
