QPS-Open Build Guide V1 by TimETraveller8

Description:-
The QPS-Open Sight is a New version of my original Quick Point Sight with separate adjustable fore sight part
aimed at larger 3D printed blasters such as the Tempus blaster.
It is setup for Nerf blasters which have a larger amount of dart drop over distance.
Useful both for teaching basic sight adjustment & also for Nerf battles.
Attachment is for Picatinny rail.

Parts Required:-
M3 Plain Nuts (7x)
M3x8 Socket Hd Bolt (4x)
M3x10 Socket Hd Bolt (4x)
M3x12 Socket Hd Bolt (1x)
M3x20 Socket Hd Bolt (1x)
M3x30 Socket Hd Bolt (3x)

Tools Required:-
2.5mm Allen key or Hex driver
Hobby knife & Small Pliers
CA Glue (Super glue)
Grease
3mm Drill
Sand paper or a modelling sanding stick (Useful for removing a first layer Elephants foot etc.)
M3 tap (Optional)
Small files - round & square (Optional)

3D Printing Notes:-
Generally print out using typical PLA 0.2mm layer height, 30% infill settings, No supports.
The Front Mount & the Aft Top Lower parts do require supports for the M3 nut recess (the STLs are marked).
The Fwd Sight, Sight Adjustment, and Rear Sight parts do benefit from a finer layer height of say 0.15mm.
Rear Assembly

Lower Mount:-
Drill through the 2-off Counter bored holes from the bottom of the Mount Upper plate as shown with a 3mm drill.
Fit an M3x20 Socket Hd bolt through the Z adjust wheel from the side with the rebate. Apply CA glue to
the head of the bolt to secure.
Fit an M3 plain Nut to the back side of the wheel apply CA glue and tighten.

Allow the CA glue to dry, then apply a little grease to the outside of the nut and to the head of the bolt.
Fit the wheel into the Mount as shown.
Fit the Mount Lower plate and Secure together with 2-off M3x10 Socket Hd bolts.

Sight Top:-
Remove the tab from the rear of the Sight Top with a hobby knife or nippers.
Remove the support nub from the Nut hole with pliers and fit an M3 plain nut.
Attach the Sight Top parts together with 3-off M3x8 Socket Hd bolts.

Prepare the Rear Sight by inserting an M3 plain nut into the slot on the bottom as shown:-
Tap the Y adjust knob using a M3 tap, or M3 bolt.

Fit the M3x30 Socket Hd bolt through the sight and into the knob.
Apply CA glue to the hole once the bolt is started.

Tighten till the knob is just free to turn.

Sight Assembly:-
Join the Sight Top to the Mount.
Wind the Adjustment wheel screw thread into the Sight Top, into the nut fitted.
Tighten until the gap between the Top and the mount is around 1mm.

Fit the forward attachment M3x8 Socket Hd bolt to act as the pivot point. This needs to be slightly loose to allow
the Top to pivot, tighten then loosen by half turn.

Fit the 2-off M3x30 Socket Hd bolts & M3 Nuts as shown.

The M3 nuts maybe secure with CA glue or a small amount of epoxy glue to prevent it coming out when fitting to a
picatinny rail.
Forward Assembly

Prepare the Fwd Mount, remove the support nub from the Nut hole with pliers and fit an M3 plain nut.

Attach the Top to the Mount with 2-off M3-10 Socket Hd bolts as shown.
Assemble the adjustable Sight:-
Fit an M3x12 Socket Hd bolt, apply a generous amount of CA Glue (Super glue) to secure the bolt.

Fit the Sight Top with CA Glue (Super glue).

Wind the Sight into position as shown:-

Fit the M3x30 Socket Hd bolt & M3 Nut as shown.

The M3 nut maybe secure with CA glue or a small amount of epoxy glue to prevent it coming out when fitting to a
picatinny rail.

That’s it done, now attach to your blasters picatinny rail.

For dailing in the sight, turn the Z wheel toward ‘+’ to make the dart go up; and toward ‘-‘ for down.
Turn the Y knob toward LH or RH to make the dart move in that direction.
The Forward sight is also adjustable Up/Down, use this for the initial adjustment then the Rear for general use.
Suggest winding the Forward sight all the way down as a starting point.
Note:- When winding the Forward sight use two fingers one from each open side, its much easier to wind it.

Thanks for reading and enjoy.
