Introduction
❖ According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, “Scientific
evidence suggests, but does not prove, that eating 1.5 ounces per day of
most nuts, such as almonds, as part of a diet low in saturated fat and
cholesterol may reduce the risk of heart disease.
❖ Although a study conducted in a population suffering from coronary
artery disease (CAD) has shown the effect of almonds in reducing the
levels of triglycerides in people with CAD at 6 and 12 weeks of
intervention with 10 g of almonds (p < 0.05) ,more studies need to
Conducted to further investigate this effect .New biomarkers ,like LDL
particle number and LDL particle size, have been found to be associated
with cardiovascular disease with some studies suggesting these
markers to be more sensitive than LDL-C or HDL-C.
Aim of the study
The aim of this study was to test whether almond
extract has a role or effect on non isolated frog .

Frog Dissection
● After pithing the frog animal to reveal the heart from visceral cavity
remain connected to the circulatory system .
● Using power lab instrument ML125.

Connecting the frog heart to the isometric transducer with lab
tutor software to record the heart rate of the frog after adding
different concentrations of almond seeds extract to the heart by
diffusion method repeating the experiment's to obtain the
percentage of the change in the heart rate compared to the
baseline.
