ETİK KONUMUN ÖRGÜTSEL VATANDAŞLIK DAVRANIŞI ÜZERİNDEKİ ETKİSİ: ETİK KONUM KURAMI

ÇERÇEVESİNDE BİR ANALİZ

ABSTRACT

Based upon Ethics Position Theory, this paper aims to investigate how ethics positions affect
organizational citizenship behavior (OCB). To this end, data was gathered from bank employees by
employing the survey method. Ethics Position Questionnaire (EPQ), devised by Forsyth (1980), and
Organization Citizenship Behavior Scale, developed by Podsakoff et al. (1990), were used to measure
the variables. Out of the survey forms sent out, 456 were available for the analysis. The effects of
ethics position dimensions on OCB were tested using structural equation modeling. The findings
demonstrated the consensus that high levels of idealism and relativism pave the way for more OCB.
Additionally this study, as one of the few examples, presented empirical support for the three-
dimensional model of ethics position. Along with idealism and relativism, the three-dimensional
model involves veracity, as a newly emerged dimension. On the other hand, no relationship was
found between veracity and any of the OCB dimensions. In the results section, the roots of the
relationships between the variables are discussed in detail, and lastly suggestions were presented for
practitioners and researchers.

ÖZET

Bu çalışma; Etik Konum Kuramı'ndan yola çıkarak etik yaklaşımların, örgütsel vatandaşlık davranışını
(ÖVD) nasıl etkilediğini tespit etmeyi amaçlamaktadır. Araştırmada kullanılan veriler, Adana'da görev
yapan banka çalışanlarından anket yöntemi ile elde edilmiştir. Araştırma kapsamında etik yaklaşım;
idealizm, görecelik ve doğruluk alt boyutlarıyla tanımlanmış ve bu boyutların ÖVD üzerindeki etkisi
yapısal eşitlik modeli ile analiz edilmiştir. Analizler neticesinde banka çalışanlarının yüksek düzeyde
idealizm ve göreciliğe sahip olmaları durumda, daha fazla ÖVD sergileyecekleri bulgulanmıştır. Sonuç
bölümünde elde edilen bulgular tartışılmış; ayrıca etiğin, ÖVD üzerindeki güçlü etkisinden hareketle
uygulayıcılar ve araştırmacılar için öneriler sunulmuştur.
