REFLECTION ON WRITING A RESEARCH REPORT

In this reflection paper, I will discuss what I learned about writing a research report.

Before this lesson, I thought writing a research report was mostly about summarizing

information. I didn’t realize it involved critical analysis and developing my own perspective

alongside the research. The process seemed complex, and I wasn’t sure how to break it down

into manageable steps.

While the topic was being discussed, this lesson helped me understand that research

reports are more than just summaries. Learning the different parts and steps involved in writing

one gave me a roadmap to follow. The breakdown of the process, especially for the body

paragraphs and introduction with the thesis statement, made it seem less daunting. I also found

the activity on reviewing a research paper helpful in putting this knowledge into practice.

Understanding these parts is important because it gives a framework for organizing information

and presenting it in a clear and concise way. The lesson also covered the steps involved in

writing a research report. This includes things like choosing a topic, conducting research, taking

notes, and drafting the report. Following these steps can help ensure that the research report is

well-structured and effectively communicates the findings.

The research paper review activity was a valuable exercise. It allowed me to practice

analyzing the different sections of a research report and identify its strengths and weaknesses.
