How would you implement the sustainable development goals in the Philippines?

Please
share one example here.

The effective implementation of SDGs necessitates the participation of all sectors, as the
issues or problems that need to be addressed by the policies and programs under SDGs, by
their nature are interconnected. Hence, a whole-of-government and whole-of-society must
be the approach to enable the engagement of all concerned citizens for the attainment of
its goals and objectives. Collaboration and cooperation from various sectors and
stakeholders should lead to collective action that will tackle the complexity of the issues and
challenges surrounding SDGs. Moreover, deciding which outcomes and results that will be
truly beneficial and impactful necessitates the consideration of all perspectives coming from
various groups. The outcomes and results should be properly aligned with the SDGs, along
with the established programs and policies under it. Continuous evaluation and monitoring
should keep the acting agencies on track by taking corrective measures whenever deviation
from the targets is observed.

One of the targets of SDG 4 is to ensure learners with free, equitable and quality primary
and secondary education leading to relevant and effective outcomes. Relevant and effective
outcomes in the sector of education could mean a lot of things, but competence and
proficiency are areas that would be gauged by most when it comes to management of
education system. The National Achievement Test, a standardized assessment which is
usually being taken by students once year, should be administered more frequently to
monitor the students’ performance. Teaching strategies should be innovated to adapt with
the changing nature of learners as technology opens different modalities of learning. Aside
from the enhancement of teachers capabilities, which is one of the strategies included in the
PDP 2023-2028, sanctions must also be imposed on underperforming teachers to make
them accountable. Drop-out rates which have always been an issue in education sector
highly attributed to poverty could be mitigated further by apprehending the teachers
charging students with unnecessary fees.
