NATIONAL MUSEUM OF COLOMBIA

It is the National Museum of Colombia, it houses collections on history, art and


culture. It is located in Bogotá downtown, is the biggest and oldest museum in
Colombia. The National Museum of Colombia is a dependency of
the Colombian Ministry of Culture.
The museum houses a collection of over 20,000 pieces including works of art
and objects representing different national history periods. Permanent
exhibitions present archeology and ethnography samples from Colombian
artefacts dating 10,000 years BC, up to twentieth century indigenous and afro-
Colombian art and culture. Founders and New Kingdom of Granada room
houses Liberators and other Spanish iconography; the round room exhibits a

The bread
My grandpa likes to tell me stories about when he was young. We live in the city, but when my grandpa was a
boy, he lived on a farm high up in the mountains. When my grandpa went shopping, he walked down the
mountain, then he bought things in a small store in a small town. He put them in his backpack, and then he
walked back to the farm again. He did not buy very much, just the things that they did not have at the farm, such
as flour, oil, and salt. On the farm they baked their own bread. One day my grandpa took me to a museum.
There they showed us how to bake bread.my grandpa said, “That is how we baked our bread on the farm”. We
tasted the bread in the museum and it was really good. Last winter I went skiing with my family, and we stayed
in a hut in the mountains. For the first few days, there was a lot of sun and we skied, but then it snowed for three
days. It was too dangerous to leave the hut, and soon we had no more bread. Then I remembered my grandpa.” I
can bake bread,” I said to my parents, but they did not believe me. We had water, oil, and salt, and luckily we
found some flour in a cabinet. I remembered what my grandpa told me and baked some bread. It wasn`t really
very good, but everybody liked it because they were hungry.

5 SPEAKING
