The Researchers
ABSTRACT
This study aimed to identify the status, views, and prospect of same-sex relationships in
Dapitan City. This study was only open for respondents of age 18 years old and above. There
were twenty (20) gay people, twenty (20) lesbians, and twenty (20) bisexuals.
This study utilized the descriptive method with the use of a survey questionnaire.
Frequency Counting and Percentage Computation were used to get the number of respondents
who belong to a specified category and Weighted Mean was used to organize the perceptions of
the respondents on the status, views, and prospect of same-sex relationships in Dapitan City.
The study revealed that the status of discrimination against same-sex relationships is
Fairly Common. The public is Somewhat Knowledgeable about same-sex relationships and is
Very Aware about same-sex relationships. Dapitanons strongly agree and are in favor for the
acceptance and equal treatment of same-sex relationships. The respondents somewhat disagree
and believe that religion has a low influence on their views on same-sex relationships.
Dapitanons are open for more programs for the welfare of same-sex relationships with an overall
result of (Yes, to a Great Extent). Age and religion have no significant relationship while gender
has a significant relationship on the respondents’ view on same-sex relationships.
