A. Preparatory Activity
1. Review of the topics
2. Motivation
Present a picture.
After watching the pictures, the following questions are to be asked.
Present the purpose, types and classification of engine oil through power point
presentation.
B. Developmental Activity
1. Discussion:
Engine oil
Engine oil is comprised of two basic components--base oils and additives. The base
oils constitute 70-90 percent of the total and are created from natural gas or crude oil,
while additives round out the remaining 10-30 percent and can be variety of things.

2. Dispersants
3. Anti-wear additives
4. Anti-foaming additives
5. Oxidation inhibitor
6. Viscosity index modifiers
Mineral oil
also known as conventional oil, is the first engine lubricant, extracted from crude
petroleum and refined to remove impurities. Frequent oil changes at around 5,000
kilometers. This oil is usually available in 10W-30,15W-40, and 20W-50 grading
variants.
Semi-Synthetic Blend
The mid-range engine oil, a blend of conventional and synthetic oil, effectively protects
the engine from wear and requires fewer oil changes. The oil grades 5W-30 and 10W-
40 are commonly used for cold starts and remain efficient at various engine
temperatures.
2. Activity 1
1. A blend of conventional and synthetic oil. Also known as mid-range engine oil.
Answer: Semi-Synthetic Blend
5. This oil let the engine can go 10,000 kilometers before requiring an oil change.
Answer: Fully synthetic oil

Answer: Semi-synthetic blend
8. It is commonly used for cold starts and remain efficient at various engine
temperatures.
Answer: Semi-synthetic blend
10. The first engine lubricant, extracted from crude petroleum and refined to remove
impurities.
Answer: Mineral oil
C. Culminating Activity
1. Generalization
2. Valuing
IV. EVALUATION
On a ½ sheet of paper, answer the following questions.
I. IDENTIFICATION
1. It is a liquid comprised of base oil and additives, created from natural gas or crude oil.
2. A type of oil which help the engine can go 10 kilometers before requiring change oil
3. It is a type of engine oil known as conventional oil.
4. A mid-range oil which combines conventional and synthetic oil.
5. It is the first engine lubricant, extracted from crude petroleum and refined to remove impurities.
II. ENUMERATION
6-10. Give 5 additives of engine oil.
III. ESSAY
Why engine oil has a different types and classification? Why the oil makers didn’t make the engine oil
with only one variety? 6 points.
