Houses and tenants Warm up
Objective:
The students will be able to integrate by playing houses and tenants with each other
making them feel relaxed before starting the class.
Time: 5 minutes.
Procedure:
1. Students need to create a house by having two people facing each other and join
their hands together in the air. A tenant should stand in the house, in the middle
of both other students. There needs to be one student left without being part of a
house or the tenant.
2. When the teacher indicates:
‘Tenants’ all the students that are tenants need to search for another house.
‘Houses’ all the students that are houses need to find another tenant.
‘Earthquake’ All the students need to change positions.
3. When the teacher says any of these instructions, the student who is left out will
have to be the one who gives the instructions now.
4. Students will play 10 rounds.
Materials:
A free space.
Preparation:
If there isn't a student left without being part of a house or a tenant, the teacher should
play.

School Things Song Learning
Objective:
The students will be able to recognize by listening to a song the vocabulary of classroom
objects (desk, chair, bag, pencil, pen, window, door, ceiling, floor) including how they
look.
Time: 5 minutes.
Procedure:
1. The teacher will put the song ‘School Things Song’ on YouTube.
2. Students will listen to it twice.
3. In the second listening they need to sing along.
Materials:

Preparation:
If students are shy to sing, the teacher will sing with them.

Objective:
The students will be able to distinguish in writing on a worksheet the vocabulary of
classroom objects (desk, chair, bag, pencil, pen, window, door, ceiling, floor) including its
name and the number of them within the image.

Time: 8 minutes.

Procedure:
1. The teacher will give the students a worksheet.
2. The students need to write what is in the image of a classroom by using the
structure ‘There is a …’ and ‘There are …’
3. When the students finish the activity, all together will check it.
Materials:
Worksheets
Preparation:
If students don’t remember the structure of ‘There is’ and ‘There are’, the teacher will give
an example.

Memory game Learning

Objective:
The students will be able to associate by playing with a memory game the vocabulary of
classroom objects (desk, chair, bag, pencil, pen, window, door, ceiling, floor) including
the name and image of each of them.

Time: 8 minutes.

Procedure:
1. Students will get in 4 groups of 4 students
2. Each group will have their cards (9 pairs of cards).
3. They have to match the cards with the name of the object and the image.
4. The first team that finishes, wins.
Materials:
Memory game cards.

Preparation:
If there’s not enough students, the teams will have fewer members.

Drawing my classroom Learning
Objective:
The students will be able to illustrate in drawing on a worksheet their classroom including
the names of the objects they’ve already learnt.
Time: 10 minutes.

Procedure:
1. The teacher will give students a worksheet.
2. Students need to draw their classroom.
3. Once they’ve drawn their classroom, they will write the name of the objects
they’ve already learnt on their drawings.
4. Two students will pass to the front to show their draw.

Worksheets
Preparation:
The teacher will help the students if they have problems.

Write a Journal Wrap up
Objective:
The students will be able to synthesize in writing on their notebooks what they’ve learned
in the class including what they don’t understand.
Time: 8 minutes.
Procedure:
1. Students will take out their notebooks.

2. They will write a journal simulating, what they’ve learnt in the class.

3. The teacher will give the the structure:

‘Today I learnt …’

‘I didn’t understand …’

Signature (students names)

4. Two students will read their journals

Materials:
Notebook
Preparation:
As the students are at a very basic level of English, they don’t need to write sentences,
just writing the vocabulary learnt it’s okay.
