1 INFORMATION AND DOCUMENTATION TO BE SUBMITTED

1.1 Handling of conditions


- Documentation and evidence as specified by the surveyor who imposed the condition
- Captain/CE’s written statement describing the repair including:
o Description of repair
o Spare parts / materials used, including
 Certification where required
 Confirmation of equivalency
- Photos of the repair, where relevant
- Description/photos of any tests or NDT carried out, e.g. dye pen, tank testing
- Service report by (approved) service supplier or manufacturer, where applicable
There are a lot of different possible conditions which require individual evaluation. Additional information
and/or remote inspection might therefore be required by the remote surveyor.

2 REMOTE SURVEYS

2.1 Main objective of the remote survey owner’s preparation

2.2 General on remote surveys


Many surveys may be carried out by remote means, provided that the submitted evidence provides a
level of assurance equivalent to the one obtained during a survey on board. DNV GL reserves the right to
decide upon whether attendance is required, which information is needed and what technology is
required each individual case.

Some surveys can be handled remotely by submitting information like photographs, scans of service
reports, etc. Many surveys will, however, require livestreaming in order to be able to perform them
remotely.

DNV GL uses for the time being an app called OnsightConnect from Librestream. Similar solution may be
considered. When a survey is requested, we will invite you to participate on one of our licenses. This
means that you don’t have to buy a license yourself! It is, however, recommended that you download
the app at a suitable time before the survey.

Designated crew on board has to be able to converse in English.
