SETTING FITT GOALS ON OUTDOOR RECREATIONAL ACTIVITIES

FITT
 Frequency, Intensity, Time, and Type.
(Covid-19 pandemic introduced us to the “New Normal”. It changed a lot our way of living labon na
students nga online class and modular pa ang klase ato. Naa ratas atong balay permi nga wala nata
halos interactions to the nature. So on this module, it will help us in setting or to make in a position our
FITT goals for outdoor recreaction. FITT should be applied in doing outdoor recreation like biking,
hiking, swimming, camping, etc. We will be healthy and fit while enjoying the nature. We will learn also
the LEAVE NO TRACE SEVEN PRINCIPLES.)

OUTDOOR RECREATION
 Outdoor activities that take place in a natural setting, as opposed to a cultivated or managed
landscape such as playing field or golf course. This term is typically applied to outdoor activities
that individuals engage in and that are located close to their community.
(More on nature and community engagement ning outdoor recreations since it is an outdoor
activities. It is considered to be the most challenging activity yet enjoyable one. Kay mas ma
close to nature ta and maka gain tag daghan memorable experience nga d nato makalimtan.
Unsa man d i pangbuhaton sa mga outdoor activities? Tanan naba naka experience na? Unsa
man dili ninjo makalimtan?)

(Kung ang activities is far distance from your home and need to travel it is called adventure.
This activity offers healthy and satisfying leisure activity, opportunity for strengthen connection
with the family, enjoyment and appreciation of our natural environment, cultural heritage,
economic development to local people and communities.)

FITT
 Pertains to the frequency of exercise, the target intensity, the time spent exercising, and the
type of exercise undertaken.
(How to set FITT goals based on outdoor recreation? The best way daw is to know your
strengths and the limits of the activity. You need also to consider the type of outdoor activity
that you are going to do. So kung mo engage man gani ug mga outdoor activity dapat kaya ra
physically, mentally and emotionally. Gamiton jod ang FITT goals nato.)

(FITT is a guidelines ni kung unsay atong e apil ug buhaton sa atong fitness plan. Remember,
everyone has different fitness goal mag base nas edad, sex, fitness level, and available
resources.)

THE LEAVE NO TRACE SEVEN PRINCIPLES

(Since outdoor recreation mahitabo outside our home or moadto tas mga lugar nga bagay sa atong
himong outdoor activity like park, forest, mountains, beach, etc. it is important to know for us how to
protect our environment and stay clean after the activity for the benefit of all in order to continuously
enjoy our nature for a long period of time.)

1. PLAN AHEAD AND PREPARE

 Successful trip planning requires knowledge of the area.
(Importante jod ang planning before anything else ky lisod jod ug way plano daghan bulilyaso
and makalimtan. Important jod nga before moadto sa place nga himoan sa outdoor activity is
didto and proper dalhon sa area.)

2. TRAVEL AND CAMP ON DURABLE SURFACES

 You must choose established campsites.
is any accident that will happen. And after the activity dapat hinlo ang palibot and kung unsa
inyo naabtan sa area mao sad inyo biyaan sa area.)

3. DISPOSE OF WASTE PROPERLY

 All trash must be brought home with you even trash from others.
(So mao jod dapat buhaton dispose properly sa mga basura nato or bisan sa uban nga atong
makit.an. Bisan not during outdoor activity, in our daily life ato ng buhaton aron ang palibot
hapsay and limpyo.)

4. LEAVE WHAT YOU FIND

 Let pictures, drawings and memories compromise your souvenirs.
picture as souvenirs.
nga atong nakit.an sa area. Let’s respect private property kumbaga.)

5. MINIMIZE CAMPFIRE IMPACTS

 Gather dead woods for campfires, and it should be put out completely anytime you are not in
the camp.
(So kung mag campfire man gani make sure after the campfire naugdaw jod ang kajo niana
before leaving the area aron maiwasan ang sunog and para pod hinlo sad ang palibot after
nato gigamit ang area. So ang musunod nga group mogamit sa area mohinlo sad sila after
mogamit ky makita man nila nga nakahinlo na daan.)

6. RESPECT WILDLIFE
 Use the thumb trick
(Make a thumbs-up, extend your arm all the way, close one eye, and see if you can hide the
animal with your thumb. Adjust your distance until you can hide the whole animal with your
thumb. This means you are at a safe distance from wildlife.)

 Observe from a Distance

(Do not follow or approach them. Use observation areas, platforms, and trails, and use
binoculars.)

 Stay out of wildlife’s line of travel

(Do not disturb wildlife by shouting or throwing something just to take a proper picture.)

 Never feed wild animals

(Human foods and products are harmful to wildlife which disrupts their natural feeding cycles
and habits.)

7. BE CONSIDERATE OF OTHERS
 Be aware of your surroundings and your noise level.
(By following and give respect the things and rules of the area, we will enjoy the area and have
peace. We should be considerate sa uban d kay permi lang ang uban mo adjust nato
especially kanang mag banha jod sa area. If you are noisy maka disturbo ka sa uban and
maka distract.
