Model

Someone or something which is used as a standard or goal for the learner, e.g. the
pronunciation of an educated native speaker.

Method:

Method is a way of teaching a language which is based on systematic principles and


procedures i.e., which is an application of how views on how a language is best taught and
learned. Different methods of language teaching such as, Direct method, Audio lingual
method, Audio visual method, grammar translation method, silent way. Communication
approach result from different views of :

a. the nature of language


b. the nature of language learning
c. goals and objective in teaching
d. the types of syllabus to use
e. the role of teachers, learners, and instructional materials
f. the techniques and procedures to use
Methodology
1. In language teaching, The study of the practices and procedures used in teaching, and
the principles and beliefs that underlie them. Methodology includes:

a. Study of the nature of language skills (eg. reading, writing, speaking, listening and
procedure for teaching them

b. study of the preparation of lesson plan, materials, and textbooks for teaching laze the
data language skills

c. The evaluation and comparison of language teaching methods (eg. The audiolingual
method)

2. Such practices, procedures, principles, and belief themselves. One can for example
criticize or praise the methodology of a particular language course.
3. In research, the procedures used in carrying out an investigation, including the methods
used to collect and analyze data.

Strategy

Procedures used in learning , thinking, etc. which serve as a way of reaching a goal. In
language learning, language strategy and communication strategy are those conscious or
unconscious processes which language learners make use of in learning and using a
language.

Approach

Language teaching is sometimes discussed in terms of three related aspects :


approach, method, and techniques.

Different theories about the nature of language and how language are learned (the
approach) imply different ways of teaching language (the method), and different methods
make use of different kinds of classroom activity (the technique).

Examples of different approach are the aural-oral approach (audio lingual approach), the
cognitive code approach, the communicative approach, etc. The examples of different
methods which are based on a particular approach are the audio lingual method, direct
method, etc. the example of technique used in particular methods are drills, dialoque, role
play, sentence completion technique etc.
