1 PURPOSE
The purpose of this Procedure is to ensure that requirements for handling, storage
identification, packing, installation and turnover of materials and equipment are
established and implemented.
2 SCOPE
This Procedure applies to materials and equipment purchased by, delivered to or handled
by the company or its suppliers and subcontractors.
It also applies to materials and equipment which are delivered direct to a Client from a
supplier or subcontractor controlled by the company.
This Procedure addresses the requirements of ISO9001 1994 Section 4.15 as defined in
the Company Quality Manual QAP-101 Section 8.15.

Engineering
The Project Engineering Manager and the Lead Discipline Engineers are
responsible for ensuring that special requirements for handling, storage and
protection are included in the specifications.
Construction
The Project Site Manager at each site is responsible for ensuring that the
requirements of this Procedure are understood and applied on site.
Procurement
6 INSTRUCTIONS
General
Engineering shall establish the need for any special marking, handling or
protection requirements and shall specify these for inclusion in material
requisitions and for issue to the project Construction Department.
Procurement shall include in the material requisition the project standard marking,
packing and delivery requirements applicable to the materials and
equipment.
Secure, clean storage areas shall be provided at the construction site, with
facilities suitable for the materials and equipment to be stored. Where
available, manufacturers' instructions shall be followed in this regard.
The Site Manager shall ensure that suitable equipment (e.g.: cranes, forklifts,
containers, pallets) is used for handling and that the methods of handling
and storage prevent damage and deterioration.
Identification
The marking and labelling of materials and equipment shall be legible and durable
so that identification remains intact from delivery to use on handover. Marking
shall enable a particular item or batch of items to be identified. These aspects are
described in detail in the Procedures referred to in section 6.2.2 above and QAP-
208.

Direct Delivery
For materials or equipment which are procured under company control, but which
are delivered directly to a Client, the Procurement Department shall ensure that
the supplier or subcontractor shall apply the requirements of this Procedure.
Where the company is responsible for the packaging and delivery, these shall be
in accordance with GPP 7EG 405.
