HOW TO USE BECAUSE AND BECAUSE OF

1. Because
Because merupakan subordinate conjunction atau sebuah kata penghubung yang digunakan
pada awal clause atau klausa, sebelum subjek dan kata kerja. Untuk aturan menggunakan
because+clause harus diikuti atau di lengkapi dengan adanya main clause karena kata tersebut
(because + clause) tidak dapat berdiri sendiri.

Pola “Because”:

because + Subject + Verb / clause + main clause | main clause + because + clause /
subject + verb

Contoh:

 She was sleepy because the melody is very slowly.

 George was dissappointed because the result of exam was so bad.
 Because the rain is heavy, she decided to bring umbrella to go to the class.
 Because her baby girl cried, Selly tried to soothe her.

2. Because of
Because of adalah preposisi (kata depan) atau two-word conjunction, digunakan sebelum kata
benda atau kata ganti. Because of memiliki makna by reason of, yang kemudian dalam
penulisannya diikuti dengan object yang berupa noun atau phrase, pronoun, atau verb-ing.

Pola “Because of” : because of + noun (phrase) / pronoun / verb-ing

Contoh :

 She was sleepy because of the melody. – Dia merasa ngantuk karena melodi itu.
 George was dissappointed because of the result of exam. – John merasa kecewa
karena hasil ujian itu.

Because of + pronoun

 They are hungry because of you.

 It’s all because of her, he lost his money in the bank.
 I think Daniel jumped to the hill because of us.

Because of + verb-ing

 Because of feeling joyful, Simon sings loudly

 Because of getting better, Jill does not want to came to the doctor again.
