What is the environment?

- The environment is the air we breathe, the water we drink and
everything we need for our lives. Environmental pollution is a change in
the properties of the environment, violation of environmental standards.
+ Pollutants are factors that make the environment toxic
+ Environmental pollution can be the result of natural activities or
activities caused by humans.

REALITY:
- Over 183 industrial parks spread across the country. 60% of industrial
parks lack a centralized wastewater treatment infrastructure.
- Only roughly 60% - 70% of solid trash is collected in urban areas. -
Drainage infrastructure, wastewater treatment, and garbage treatment
cannot meet environmental protection criteria.
- The majority of wastewater is contaminated by grease, cleaning
chemicals, dyes, and other substances that have not been cleaned and are
deposited directly into natural rivers and lakes.
- Untreated gasses are released into the environment.
- Motorcycles are the most popular mode of transportation worldwide,
resulting in massive emissions every day.
With increased industry and urbanization, as well as population growth,
the environment in Vietnam is under increasing strain.

Environmental pollution is divided into four main types: soil, air, water
and other types of pollution. Specifically:
Causes: Soil environmental pollution: the cause is often due to mining
activities, fertilizer use, pesticide use... Heavy metals, herbicides,
pesticides...
Consequences: When soil is polluted, there will be consequences: loss
of exploitation ability, susceptibility to diseases such as liver toxicity,
cancer, increased risk of birth defects, respiratory disorders and skin
diseases..., water sources polluted underground. Many animals have to
leave their current habitat to live elsewhere.

Causes of Water pollution:
+Industrial waste: During industrial production, factories continuously
discharge waste into the environment
+Domestic waste: Household waste, plastic bags thrown into rivers, seas
or sewers lead to water pollution, stinking and killing aquatic life.
+ Agricultural activities: During the growing process, people often use
pesticides, fertilizers, etc. to protect and increase crop productivity
+ Due to natural factors: Melting ice or floods, etc. are also factors
causing widespread water pollution
Consequence: Using polluted water sources for a long time will increase
the risk of intestinal diseases, cholera, skin diseases, and more
dangerously, it will cause us poisoning and diseases such as cancer and
birth defects. in young children…. This directly affects our health,
longevity and productivity.
- Other types of pollution: noise pollution (including noise from
vehicles, aircraft, noise from industry, production...), wave pollution
(satellite waves, television waves,...) pollution light, radioactive
pollution...

There are a number of temporary solutions that can be implemented to
protect the environment in the short term:
Planting trees: Increase tree planting activities in urban and rural areas to
absorb CO2 and improve air quality.
Increase recycling and reduce waste: Encourage recycling and reduce
waste through recycling programs and limit the use of single-use plastic
products.
Limit the use of plastic bags: Promote the use of non-woven or reusable
bags instead of single-use plastic bags to reduce plastic pollution.

Biodiversity Protection Policy: Establish and promote a policy to protect
biodiversity, including the establishment and conservation of special
areas, as well as the protection of endangered species of animals and
plants.
Efficient Use of Water Resources: Implement policies and technologies
to save and use water sustainably, including water reuse, and strengthen
water resources management systems.
Green Urban Development: Building smart and green cities, focusing on
using energy-saving technologies, effective waste management, and
creating green living spaces for residents.
Improved Waste Management and Recycling: Strengthen waste
management systems, facilitate recycling and reuse, and reduce the
amount of non-biodegradable waste.
Invest in Green Technology: Encourage and invest in research and
development of green technology, including clean energy, smart
transportation systems, and recycled materials.
International Cooperation and Global Policy: Promote international
cooperation to address global environmental issues such as climate
change and biodiversity protection.
