Neuronal spike patterns

Conveys intrinsic neuro-

computational properties

The categorization is due to

morphology. So, it might not be
exhaustive. There could be many
subtypes left to be found.

Is there another way to define

them?
The Hodgkin-Huxley model
Contain biophysical meaning

Have 3 parameters to be fitted: m, n, h. So,

a neuron’s response (the spike train, V-t
plot) can be simulated.

Do different parameters contribute to

different spike train patterns?

How can different spike train patterns be

C = membrane capacitance
defined by the parameters?
V = membrane potential
I = injected current
g = maximum conductance What is its biophysical meaning?
E = Nernst equilibrium potential
m, n, h are probabilities of the ion gates to be opening/closing
