THE FUN QUOTIENT IN STUDIES

‘If you cannot do great things, do small things in a great way’

The Fun quotient in studies !

This year's summer assignment for English is based on the book “Adventure
in Kaziranga” four environment novellas by Arup Kumar Dutta. These stories
are set in the beautiful state of Assam, which is home to the world – famous
Kaziranga National park. It is a wildlife sanctuary where the guards protect
the animals of Kaziranga from their main enemy – man. We want our
students to raise their level of awareness regarding conservation of Nature
and wildlife animals. All sixth graders are going to be a part of a huge anti –
poaching forum and everyone will showcase their love for animals!
Choose to do ANY ONE of the following with reference to ‘Adventures in
Kaziranga’.
1. Look at the picture on page 89. Write a short paragraph in your
grammar notebook, using your imagination and your knowledge about
elephants. Describe the relationship between a baby elephant and its
father or mother. Do these gentle giants show protective feelings like
humans? Provide your answer in your paragraph. Attach a photocopy
of this picture to your notebook, next to the paragraph. If anyone is
good at drawing try to draw the picture in the notebook.
2. Kaziranga National Park in Assam is home to the endangered Great
Indian Rhinoceros. Make a colourful collage on a standard A3 sheet
using pictures, slogans, information about any one wildlife sanctuary in
India. You can choose from:
- Kaziranga Wildlife Sanctuary, Assam
- Bandhavgarh National Park, Madhya Pradesh
- Corbett National Park, Uttarakhand.
- Ranthambore National Park, Rajasthan.
You may write about a trip to any of these places in your journal.
3. Use 3 A4 sheets to do the following task.

Divide each A4 sheet into two parts.

You are now about to make a set of six GIFT VOUCHERS as a gesture of
GRATITUDE. Make a set of six gift vouchers.

thank for their contribution in your life.

On the other side mention what you are gifting each person as a deed eg.

SYMMETRY

In mathematics, especially in geometry and its applications, an object is said

to have symmetry if it can be divided into two identical halves. Symmetry
exists when something that has matching parts facing each other or around
an axis. Symmetry is a fundamental part of geometry, nature, and shapes. It
creates patterns that help us organize our world conceptually. We see
symmetry every day but often don't realize it. Symmetry creates balance,
harmony, and order in design which has a similar impact on the mind. So,
children let’s put on your thinking caps & do the following:

1) Write any 5 alphabets in capitals and draw lines of symmetry.

2) Draw a butterfly and draw line/lines of symmetry.

3) Paste the pictures of any 5 monuments which look symmetrical.

SCIENCE

Mother Earth has bestowed us with several sources of energy. We need the
energy to support different life forms on this planet. We extract different
forms of energy from different sources. The natural resources present on
this planet are the chief sources of energy for our daily activities.

However, all of these natural resources are not renewable. Therefore, to

ensure proper usage of each of these natural resources so that none of the
sources faces any problems of getting used up, we need to manage natural
resources.

*This summer vacation as Earth warriors, let's Research about Natural

resources and prepare a report, classify them as renewable and non
renewable resources and draw 3-4 examples of each.

*Also, draw and write about any 5 things that you could do to contribute to
conserve natural resources. All work to be done in a scrapbook.
SOCIAL SCIENCE

CONSERVING THE OLD AS GOLD

Our grandparents are the treasure house of lifetime experiences and

learning. However, the hustle and bustle of modern age is affecting students'
relationship with them
As a fun activity, we want our children to lie down in laps of five elderly
members of their extended families, and learn how they used to conserve
resources in times of crisis.

These 5 anecdotes can be written in the form of 5 paragraphs with

appropriate pictures.

This activity aims to bring children closer to the older generation of their
families and learn good things from them, making them responsible towards
our precious environment 🌼
