One of the drawbacks mentioned in the article is the "limited availability of recycled plastic for road
construction". Civil Engineering companies have the potential to address this issue by enhancing
collaboration with governments, waste management organizations and recycling companies towards a steady
supply of recycled plastic. It is important to note that around 15 million tons of plastic garbage end up in the
ocean alone every year, threatening marine species, then food safety and quality, and therefore human
health. Actually, time is running out to tackle the plastic crisis!
