1. An economist wants to determine whether there is a linear relationship 10
between a country’s gross domestic product (GDP) and carbon dioxide (CO2)
emissions. The data are shown in the table:
GDP (X ) 1.6 3.6 4.9 1.1 0.9 2.9 2.7 2.3 1.6 1.5

Create a scatter plot for the generated data set, fit a regression line and find its
correlation coefficient.
2. The life of a certain kind of LED bulb has a mean of 500 hours and standard deviation 10
of 25 hours. Assuming that the lifetimes of the devices follow normal distribution.
Find the probability that any of these devices will have a life time a) more than 550
hours b) between 450 and 550 hours c) less than 450 hours d) plot the distribution.

21BCE004 29 30 75
21BCE005 45 40 81
21BCE006 40 42 85
The maximum marks of CAT-1, CAT-2, and FAT are 50, 50 and 100 respectively.
The weightage of the CAT-1, CAT-2 and FAT are 30, 30 and 40 respectively.
Calculate the total marks of each student out of 100 and then export the results in the
excel sheet.
2. In a random sample of 25 students at a private arts and science college, 17 were 10
receiving some sort of financial aid. Letting p denote the proportion of all students at
the college receiving financial aid, test the hypothesis H 0 : p=0.5 against the alternative
hypothesis H 1 : p> 0.5 at the 0.05 level of significance.
