GRAMMAR Past Simple

1. Cách dùng:
Thì quá khứ đơn dùng để diễn tả một hành động, sự việc diễn ra và kết thúc trong quá khứ.
- yesterday (hôm qua)
- last night/week/month/... (Tối qua/tuần trước/tháng trước..)
- ago (cách đây), (two hours ago: cách đây 2 giờ/ two weeks ago: cách đây 2 ngày...)
- in + thời gian trong quá khứ (e.g: in 1990)
- when: khi (trong câu kể), (when I was young, …)
- in the past (trong quá khứ)
- the day before (ngày hôm trước)
2. Cấu tạo:
Dạng xác định: S + V_ed/ V2
Eg: - She went to school yesterday.
- He worked in this bank last year.
Dạng khẳng định: S + did not/ didn’t + Vnm
Eg: - My mother didn’t buy me a new computer last year.
- He didn’t meet me last night.
Câu hỏi Yes/ No: Did + S + Vnm? Yes, S + did. / No, S + didn’t.
Eg: - Did she work there?  Yes, she did./ No, she didn’t.
- Did you go to Hanoi last month?  Yes, I did./ No, I didn’t.
Wh-question: Wh-word + did + S + Vnm ?
( Who, What, When, Where, Why, Which, How )
Eg: What did Ba do at the weekend? - He studied English.
3. Cách thêm -ed vào sau động từ
Trong câu ở thì quá khứ đơn, một số động từ bắt buộc phải thêm đuôi -ed. Dưới đây là các quy tắc khi
thêm đuôi -ed vào động từ.

want - wanted finish - finished

Thêm “ed” vào đằng sau hầu hết các
Ví dụ:

look - looked help - helped

Động từ kết thúc bằng đuôi “e” hoặc live - lived agree - agreed
“ee” chúng ta chỉ việc thêm “d” và cuối Ví dụ:
động từ. love - loved believe - believed

Đối với những động từ tận cùng là “y” play - played study - studied
+ Nếu trước “y” là một nguyên âm
Ví dụ: stay - stayed worry - worried
(u,e,o,a,i), ta thêm “ed” bình thường +
Nếu trước “y” là một phụ âm - ta đổi “y”
thành “i” + “ed” enjoy - enjoyed marry - married

Động từ một âm tiết, tận cùng bằng một stop - stopped fit - fitted ...
