Skaven Skin, Plague Monk – Mamikon Patreon

Hi fellow Wizards and Necromancers!

In this tutorial we will continue painting the beautiful Plague Monk model
from the new Skabikk Plaguepack – I will show you how to paint Skaven skin.
Explanation on layer and glaze consistency is on the last slide. Let’s get into
the tutorial!

1
Step 1.
We will start with a layer
consistency Cadian
Fleshtone. 2 thin coats will
do just fine.

2
Step 2.
Next up, we will add some
shading, using 2 glaze
consistency coats of
Mournfang Brown.
Remember to always let the
paint dry before applying
the next coat of paint. If you
don’t – you will get a
unpleasant staining effect
on your model.

3
Step 3.
Start applying highlights
using layer consistency
Kislev Flesh. Focus on all of
the raised areas, placing the
lighter tone of paint just on
the surfaces, that are
sticking out the most.

4
Step 4.
Use a glaze consistency 1:1
mix of Kislev Flesh and
Ushabti Bone, to push the
highlights further.

5
Step 5.
We will follow the previous
step with a coat of Ushabti
Bone in Glaze consistency,
focusing on the wrist area and
on the knuckles, so two areas
that are opposite to each
other.

6
Step 6.
Next, we will use layer
consistency Ivory from AK
Interactive or Pallid Wych
Flesh, to create a spot
highlight. We will add it on
just a few areas that are
sticking out the most, so on
the edges of the knuckles
and on the wrist bone.

7
Step 7.
Next up, we will use a single
glaze consistency coat of
Tuskgor Fur to add a warm
tone to the area around the
knuckles. This is to show
the plague undertone of the
Skaven skin, rotten or
bruised in some places.

8
Step 8.
In the final step, we will just use
White (I use the one from AK
Interactive) in glaze consistency,
again, on the very brightest
spots, to create a shiny feeling
on the skin. This will make the
skin pop.

9
And here is a
collage
of the steps for
convenience.

Thank you very much for supporting me – it means the world to me! I dream of being able to paint and
make tutorials full time, so if you like my Patreon – please tell your friends about it. It would make a massive
difference to me and hopefully it will be beneficial for your friends too :)

*Layer consistently = paint mixed in a 1:1 ratio with water.

*Glaze consistently = paint mixed in a 1:3 ratio with water.

Best wishes,
Mamikon
