TITLE Title: Enhancing Listening Skills of Sophomores through STUDY4 English Learning Website: A Descriptive Study at Saigon University Rationale: State in details why you decided to conduct this research (Morley,1972) defined listening as involving basic auditory discrimination and aural grammar as well as reauditorizing, choosing necessary information, recalling it, and relating it to everything that involves processing or conciliating between sound and meaning. By focusing on enhancing listening skills, we contribute to the educational advancement of students at Saigon University. Improved listening skills are crucial for academic success and future career prospects, especially in an increasingly globalized world where English proficiency is highly valued. 2. RESEARCH QUESTIONS/OBJECTIVES Research Questions: Question 1: What are The Benefits of English Learning Website STUDY4 on English Listening Skill? Question 2: How English Learning Website STUDY4 will help Sophomores to improve their English Listening Skill? Question 3: What are their attitudes after using English Website STUDY4? Research objectives: The primary objective of the STUDY4 website is to provide students with a comprehensive learning experience that allows them to practice and improve their English language skills in a self-paced and interactive environment. The website offers interactive exercises, video lessons, and audio recordings aimed at enhancing listening skills. 3. METHODOLOGY a) Research family: state which research family you use and explain why you use it I decide to use qualitative research in order to focus on in-depth exploration and understanding. The reasons why I use qualitative research is that qualitative methods allow us to explore the context, experiences, and perceptions and feelings of participants related to using the STUDY4 website for English listening practice. . We can delve into the nuances of how students engage with the platform, their challenges, and explore variations in students’ learning styles, preferences, and strategies. b) Research approach: state which research approach you use and explain why you use it The data was collected through surveys to gather information on students' use of the website and their perceptions of its effectiveness. Surveys allow us to collect data from a large number of participants. Given that our study aims to explore the impact of the STUDY4 website on listening skills, a survey can provide insights from a diverse group of sophomores. Surveys generate quantitative data, which can be statistically analyzed. This is particularly useful for assessing the effectiveness of the STUDY4 website. We can quantify responses related to listening skills improvement, frequency of website usage, and overall satisfaction. c) Research technique: state which research technique you use and explain why you use it Questionnaires technique is used in this research. This indicates that the research technique used in the study involved the collection of qualitative data through surveys. This technique was chosen to gather in-depth insights into students' experiences with the STUDY4 website and their attitudes towards its effectiveness. d) Research instrument: Table of specification (describe in detail what your instrument is, what it will include and based on what ground/materials you will design your instrument) In order to gather data for this study, a Google Form was administered online and sent to 50 sophomore students from the English Language Department at Saigon University randomly. We conduct interviews with students to explore their perceptions, experiences, and challenges related to using STUDY4. Create a guide with open-ended questions; for instance: “How often do they visit the website?”, “Which features do they use?”, “What aspects of the website enhance their listening skills?”, explore difficulties they encounter (e.g., technical issues, content comprehension), gather their ideas for enhancing the website. Sample Questions for my Interview: 1. How often do you use the STUDY4 website for English listening practice? 2. Which features of the website do you find most helpful? 3. What challenges have you faced while using the website? 4. How do you think the website could be improved to better support your learning? e) Research sample/participant: We selected 50 sophomore students from the English Language Department at Saigon University to participate in the research. The participants were selected through a convenience sampling method. This means that the participants were chosen based on their convenient availability and accessibility for the study. The data collection involved surveys and interviews with these students to gather information on their use of the STUDY4 website and their perceptions of its effectiveness in enhancing their listening skills. f) Research site: The research site for this study was Saigon University, specifically focusing on the English Language Department. The STUDY4 website was used as a supplementary tool to support classroom instruction for sophomore students at Saigon University. The university provided the environment for the implementation of the study and the use of the STUDY4 website as a tool for enhancing students' listening skills. g) Data collection procedure: state the steps you will conduct to collect empirical data to answer your Research questions The data collection procedure involved the use of surveys to gather empirical data to answer the research questions. The steps conducted to collect empirical data included: - Designing surveys: We designed surveys to gather information on students' use of the STUDY4 website, their attitudes towards the website, and the impact of the website on their listening comprehension. - Administering surveys: The surveys were administered to the participants to collect quantitative data on their use of the website and their attitudes towards it. These steps were designed to collect qualitative and quantitative empirical data to address the research questions related to the impact of the STUDY4 website on students' listening skills and their attitudes towards the website. 4.
