ABBREVIATIONS
K = knit
P = Purl
St(s) = Stitch(es)
C/on = Cast on
C/off = Cast off
Dec c/off = Decrease cast off - K2tog from the back of the loop then slip the stitch back to
the left needle, repeat to the end of the row
K2tog = Knit two stitches together
P2tog = Purl two stitches together
PM = Place your marker
RM = Remove your marker
SM = Slide your marker
M = Marker
YIF = Yarn in the front of your work
Kf&b = knit in the front and then the back of the same stitch with the yarn at the back of the
work
K3tog = Knit three stitches together
HEAD
C/on 20 sts with yarn A
Row 1 – (Kf&b) repeat until the end of the row (40 sts)
Row 2 – P row
Row 3 – (K1, Kf&b) repeat until the end of the row (60 sts)
Row 4 – P row
Row 5 – K row
Repeat the last 2 rows 5 more times
Row 16 – P row
Thread through the remaining sts, cut the yarn and make secure.
EARS (make 2)
C/on 15 sts with yarn B
Row 1 – K row
Row 2 – P row
Repeat the last 2 rows 2 more times
Row 7 – K2tog, K up to the end of the row
Row 8 – P2tog, P up to the end of the row
Repeat the last 2 rows until you have 9 sts left
Keep these 9 sts on your needle, get the P side facing you and pick up 8 sts with yarn A
starting at the bottom left, turn your work and K9 sts from the needle, then pick up 8 sts on
the other side down towards the other corner (25 sts).
Continue working with yarn A for the rest of the ear.
Dec c/off the remaining 25 sts, cut the yarn and make secure.
Repeat for the second ear.
C/off the remaining sts, cut the yarn and make secure, leaving a long tail to sew**

C/on 10 sts with yarn A, leaving a long tail to sew

Row 10 – (K1, K2tog) repeat until the last 2 sts, K2 (14 sts)

Thread through the remaining 4 sts, cut the yarn and make secure.
DUNGAREES
C/on 26 sts with yarn C, leaving a long tail to sew
Row 1 – (K1, P1) repeat until the end of the row
Row 2 – (P1, K1) repeat until the end of the row
Repeat the last 2 rows 6 more times
Cut the yarn, keep the 26 sts on the needles and start again for the 2nd leg.
Both set of legs should be next to each other but not joined yet (52 sts), the next row will
put them together.
Next row – (K1, P1) repeat until the end of the row
Next row – (P1, K1) repeat until the end of the row
Repeat the last 2 rows 15 more times
Next row – Dec c/off 20, K12, dec c/off, cut the yarn
Re-join the middle 12 sts
Next row – P row
Next row – K row
Repeat the last 2 rows 1 more time
You are now going to start the straps for the dungarees

Repeat the last row until your strap measure 6cm
C/off the 3 sts, cut the yarn and make secure, leaving a tail to sew to the garment

BACKPACK
BAG

Now we are going to make the holes for the string of the bag

STRING
C/on 4 sts with yarn C
Create an Icord for 40cm
Icord = Knit your row as usual and instead of switching your needles just slip all your
stitches back onto your left needle. Then repeat with the next row. If you are working this
with DPN you just need to slide all the stitches to the other end of the same needle
SCARF
C/on 6 sts with yarn B
Row 1 – K row
Repeat row 1 until your piece measure 43 cm
EARS - Thread through c/on edge and pull to form a cup and fold the edges in place as per
the picture. Finish by sewing both ears at the top of the head as shown in the picture.
BODY - Join the seams of both feet and legs and start stuffing as you go. Continue to the top
of the body in the same way. Then sew the head to the body.
ARMS - Thread along the c/on edge and pull to form the hands, then join the seams along
the arms and start stuffing as you go. Then attach the arms to the body.
DUNGAREE - Join the seam at the back and the inside of the legs. Then attach both straps at
the back of the garment. Add both pockets to each side of the dungarees making sure that
they are at the right level for the hands.
BACKPACK – Fold the bag in half and join the back seam, thread the string through the
holes and sew the ends at the bottom rear of the backpack.
