nificance of social media as a powerful tool for individuals and or-
ganizations to address this issue.

mains elusive, highlighting the complex
nature of this issue. This aims to delve
into the role of social media in the fight
against climate change and its influ-
ence on public perception, awareness,
and action. It also explores the chal-
lenges posed by misinformation and
polarization on social media platforms.
THE POTENTIAL OF SOCIAL MEDIA IN CLIMATE ACTIVISM

Social Media has emerged as a pow-


erful tool for individuals to raise their
voices and advocate for environmental
protection. It provides a platform for ed-
ucation and motivation, enabling peo-
ple to engage actively in their concerns
and mobilize for change. Influencers
and Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) such
as Mr. Beast and Great Thunberg have
harnessed the reach and impact of
social media to amplify climate-relat-
ed messages, inspiring and mobiliz-
ing audiences on a global scale. The
spread of misinformation remains a
critical concern. Misleading content
can exacerbate confusion and hin-
der progress. In this regard, the need
for more targeted and strategic social
