This crochet pattern does not contain crocheting lessons.

To make a toy with the help of this crochet pattern you should have basic crocheting skills.
You will need:
 Yarn. In this pattern I used YarnArt JEANS (55% cotton / 45% acrylic; 50 g / 160 m),
color No.72 – 1 skein. Additional color for boots, hat (½ skeins).
 You will need a piece of wire of 75 - 80 cm long and 1.5 mm in diameter. The wire
dimensions are specified for “Jeans” yarn. If you use some different yarn, you may need
more or less wire.
 Adhesive plaster on a fabric basis (2 cm wide).
 Nippers or pliers to work with wire.
 Brown or black embroidery thread to embroider.
 8 mm beads for eyes.
 Glue-on nose (1.5 cm wide if measured along the top)
 Glue for nose. I used Moment Super Gel glue
 2.5 mm crochet hook (or in accordance with the yarn you use).
 Sewing needles for stitching parts
 Pins for placing the details before sewing.
 Stuffing (polyester fiberfill, or similar).

Abbreviations:
 sc – single crochet
 inc – increase (crochet 2 sc in one stitch)
 dec – decrease (crochet 2 sc together)
 (1 sc, dec) х n – repeat the pattern between parentheses n times.
 For example, (1 sc, dec) x 4 means that the combination of (1 sc, dec) should be repeated
4 times.
 In the end of every round description the figure between parentheses indicates the
number of stitches in the round after its finishing.
 For example, (1 sc, inc) x 6 (18) means that you will get 18 stitches in the round after its
finishing.
 BLO – back loop only
 Work in a continuous spiral and do not join the rounds. Work in both loops of the stitch
unless otherwise stated.

Prepare the wire frame. For “Jeans” yarn, cut a piece of wire of 32-35 cm long, bend one end of the
wire with pliers (photo 1) and wind the adhesive plaster around it (photo 2). Please note that the end of
the wire is not only bent, but is also turned so that it is not able to slip out of the cat’s head later. Insert
this end of the wire into the head, it should not go very deep inside.

As alternative, it is possible not to cut a piece of wire in the beginning, but simply cover one end of the
wire with adhesive plaster and insert it into the head. Then see in photo 3 how the wire will go through
the cat’s body; so, you can figure out the length of the wire that will be enough for your cat. The cat’s
body in length is equal to two cat’s heads
30) (3 sc, dec) х 6 (24)

31) (2 sc, dec) х 6 (18)

Using tweezers, finally stuff the head. Try to distribute the stuffing material so that the bend of the
wire inside the head is not felt when touching the head.

32) (1 sc, dec) х 6 (12)

33 – 41) 12 sc (9 rounds)

Do not stuff the neck!

42) (2 sc, inc) х 4 (16)

43) (3 sc, inc) х 4 (20)

Next round we will have three increases going one after another, it is necessary to mark them with a
contrasting thread. To do this, draw the initial end of your thread marker out of the crochet fabric and
put it before the three increases (photo 4).

44) (2 sc, inc) х 5, 2 sc, inc х 3 (28)

45) (3 sc, inc) х 5, 2 sc, (inc, 1 sc) х 3 (36)

46) (5 sc, inc) х 6 (42)

47 – 54) 42 sc (8 rounds)

55) (5 sc, dec) х 6 (36)

56) (4 sc, dec) х 6 (30)

57 – 59) 30 sc (3 rounds)

60) (4 sc, inc) х 6 (36)

61) (5 sc, inc) х 6 (42)

62 -70) 42 sc (9 rounds) Stuff firmly as you go.

Next round we need to draw the wire for the tail through the cat’s body. To do this, we need to turn the
cat’s head in a way as it will be located on the finished toy. Well, turn the head so that it is directly
above the place of the body where we did three increases one after another (photo 5). Now turn the cat
so that its back faces you, and lift the wire for the tail up to make it parallel to the head (photo 6).

71) (5 st, dec) х 6 (36)

To make a hole for the tail, it is possible to work one of the decreases as skipping one sc instead of
doing 2 sc together. It will help the wire pass easier through the body (photos 7, 8).

72) (4 sc, dec) х 6 (32)

73) (3 sc, dec) х 6 (24)

Stuff the detail with the help of tweezers. When stuffing, please note that there should also be a
stuffing material above the wire in the tail.

74) (2 sc, dec) х 6 (18)

75) (1 sc, dec) х 6 (12)

76) dec х 6

Cut the yarn and fasten off. Pull remaining stitches together with the help of a sewing needle (to
remove the final gap). Hide the yarn tail inside the detail. Photo 9 – Head and Body

My cat’s tail is 13.5 cm long. Bend the end of the wire and wind the adhesive plaster around it (photo
10, 11).

Tail.

2) inc х 6 (12)

Next, crochet 12 sc in a continuous spiral and work as many rounds as needed for your cat’s tail (put it
on the wire constantly to check if you’ve crocheted sufficient number of rounds or not). Having
finished the tail, cut the yarn and leave a yarn end for sewing. Photos 12, 13: the tail is finished, it
should fully cover the wire
Legs. (make 4).

Prepare wire for legs. Using pliers, cut 4 pieces of wire, each piece of 16 cm long. Please refer to photo
14, the red numbers indicate: 1 – a piece of wire, 2 – bend one end of the wire with the help of pliers, 3
– wrap the adhesive plaster around this end, 4 – turn this end 90 degrees (it will be a foot). Photo 15 –
the prepared wire for legs.

Start with additional color.

3) (1 sc, inc) х 6 (18)

4) (1 sc, inc) х 3, 12 sc (21)

5 – 8) 21 sc (4 rounds)

9) (1 sc, dec) х 3, 12 sc (18)

10) (1 sc, dec) х 6 (12)

Now you need to insert the wire into the leg. Please refer to photo 16 which shows how the wire
should be placed inside the leg. Three decreases we made in 9th round should be on the toe.

Change the yarn color to the main, while moving the yarn of additional color to the front (we will use
it to crochet the boot’s top edge later). Crochet the next round (11th) with the main color through the
back loop only (photo 17)!

11) 1 sc, dec х 2, 7 sc (10) 8

Next, you need to crochet the entire length of the leg in a continuous spiral. The yarn going from the
boot may cause slight inconvenience; so, to prevent this, after 3rd round (photo 18) I recommend you
to return to the boot and work front loop only 2 rounds of sc stitches for the boot’s top edge. You can
work these two rounds either in a continuous spiral, or in joining rounds. Having worked these two
rounds, make a slip stitch to finish. Cut the yarn and secure it. Hide the yarn tail inside the cat’s leg
(photos 19, 20, 21).

12 – 32) 10 sc (21 rounds)

You can change the length of the legs yourself, but note that the wire should be 1.5-2 cm longer than
the leg (photo 21).

Cut the yarn and fasten off. Leave a tail for sewing.

Assembly.
Sew the tail to the body: pin the tail to the body in several places and sew it to the cat with the help of
yarn end earlier left for sewing (photo 24).
Sew the legs to the body. Insert the wire sticking out of the leg into the cat’s body (use scissors to
widen the hole between sc stitches if needed). At first, attach the two front legs and sew on them, then
attach the hind legs and sew on them. Photos 25-28 show the process of attaching legs. Photo 29 – legs
sewn.

10

Sew the Ears to the Head.

At first, pin the Ears to the Head to find the best placement. Check that the Ears are placed
symmetrically. Please refer to photos 30, 31, 32.
Embroider the face.
For these cats, I usually use beads for eyes and sew on them, but it is also possible to glue half-beads.

You need to put the beads on a knitting or sewing needle and apply them to the head. It will help you
understand to what round of the head you should sew on them (photo 33). I sewed them to the 3rd
round from the increases (photo 34).

11

When the beads have been sewn to the face, I do not recommend to immediately glue the nose. It is
more convenient to embroider whiskers, vertical line under the nose, and eyebrows at first. Put the
nose to the head under the eyes; the whiskers should go from the left and right sides of the nose. On
photo 35 I’ve drawn an oval – there will be a nose. To the left and to the right of it we’ll embroider the
whiskers (please preliminarily mark the whiskers lines with pins). So, embroider the whiskers, the line
under the nose, and the eyebrows (photo 36). Glue the nose (photo 37).
Crochet the hat.
You can crochet the hat either in a continuous spiral, or in joining rounds – both ways are possible.

I worked in joining rounds (1 sl st at the end of round and 1 chain stitch as a turning chain at the
beginning of round), but in the description I don’t indicate that, so use the way convenient for you.
