Question: In last lecture of the week on the legal environment, we discussed how promoting
psychosocial factors can enhance employee wellbeing. Choose two such factors (e.g., good
boss, four-day work week) that you would like to see in your current or future workplace, and
explain why they are important to you. Then explain your expectations of work-life
balance/harmony of your current or future work-life.

In my current or future workplace, two important psychosocial factors that I value are a
supportive work environment and flexible working hours. A supportive work environment,
lead by a good boss will promote job satisfaction and motivation. It encourages open
communication, teamwork, and a sense of belonging between co-workers. This factor is
important to me as it creates a positive atmosphere where I feel like I belong and can
contribute to the workplace.
Having flexible working hours, like a four-day work week or the ability to set flexible
schedules, are key for myself to have a good work/life balance. It allows people to manage
personal commitments, invest time into their hobbies, and focus on their well-being. This
flexibility reduces stress levels, improves mental health, and boosts job satisfaction. Having
the flexibility to balance my personal and work life would enable me to live a fulfilling life
outside of work and contribute to a positive mindset in the workplace.
Regarding what I expect from my work/life balance, I aim to establish a healthy balance
between my career and personal life. While I am dedicated to professional success, I also
value my personal relationships, self-care, and pursuing hobbies and interests. Maintaining
this balance is crucial for overall well-being and long-term satisfaction.
I see myself far into the future having plenty of time for family and friends, engaging in my
hobbies that promote personal growth and well-being, that enables me to disconnect from
work during down time from work. I also expect I will have the flexibility to handle
unexpected circumstances or personal emergencies without compromising my work
responsibilities. By achieving this balance, I aspire to lead a fulfilling and meaningful life,
where both my career and personal ventures can be lived out.
