learning among Elementary and Secondary (Junior and Senior High School) learners.
This science activity is composed of six (6) contest events in the Science Investigatory
Project (SIP) Fair, a showcase of innovations and products in science and technology for
the Science Innovation Expo, a showcase of intelligence and mastery of competencies
in science for Mega-Quiz, Create Show and Tell, and Poster Making Contest.
Further, SIP FAIR is composed of the following categories: Life Science Individual,
Life Science Team, Physical Science Individual, Physical Science Team, Robotics and
Intelligent Machines Individual, Mathematics and Computational Sciences Individual,
Mathematics and Computational Sciences Team, and Robotics and Intelligent Machines
Team. Science Innovation Expo is a competition of either individual or a team composed
of three members which enable participants to display their innovations in science and
technology as answers to everyday problems.
The SIP Fair is a division-wide research competition that aims to promote S & T
culture and consciousness among science learners. Moreover, it intends to identify the
most creative and the best Science Junior /Senior High School researchers who will
represent the division in the regional science fair. As such, the research plan and
scientific research paper must follow the format based on 2023 ISEF Rules and APA
Style 7th Edition-Student Paper Setup Guide. The same forms and guidelines
stipulated in DepEd Memo No. 113 s. 2019 will be adopted in all levels of the contest.
The competition will be done publicly to allow other participants to observe the Science

3. MEGA QUIZ.
The Mega Quiz is open to all bona fide elementary (Grade 4 –Grade 6) and junior
high school (Grade 7-10) learners. This is an Individual and Team Competition that aims
to enhance the development of critical scientific thinking skills. The coverage of the quiz
is based on the DepEd learning competencies from the 1st to 3rd Quarter and Science
Updates. There will be three (3) categories to be observed in conducting this competition:
Easy Round (1 point per correct answer); Average Round (2 points per correct answer);
and Difficult Round (3 points per correct answer). The Clincher Round will only be done
in case there is a tie after the scores are summed up in the three categories. A separate
contest will be conducted for the Team Competition composed of three members.
1. English shall be used as the official language in the conduct of the quiz.
3. Questions will be read twice by the Quizmaster. After the second (2 nd)
reading, the Quizmaster shall say “go” only then will the contestants be
allowed to write their answer. Automatically, the ten (10) second-time limit
begins with the word “go” by the Quizmaster.
4. After the time limit and the buzzer sounds, the contestants must stop
writing and raise their answer boards.
6. There are four (4) rounds, namely: Easy, Average, Difficult, and Clincher.
The Clincher round takes place only if there is a tie.
7. In the Easy Round, two (2) questions will be asked; in the Average Round,
three (3) questions; in the Difficult Round, five (5) questions, and in the
Clincher Round, as many questions as needed.
9. After the fifth question (5th) in the Difficult Round, the total number of
points of each contestant is tabulated.
10. The contestant who gets the highest number of points is automatically
declared the Champion; and the second (2nd) highest, the runner–up.
11. Should there be a tie among the contestants getting the highest score or
the second (2nd), the contestant continues to the Clincher Round to determine
the Champion or the Runner-up as the case may be.
12. The total number of points of the contestant who got a tie from the Easy,
Average, and Difficult Rounds will be reverted back to zero (0).
13. In the Clincher Round, as many questions will be asked. Each question is
assigned five (5) points. The contestant who first gets fifteen (15) points are
declared the winner.
14. Should another tie occur after the third (3 rd) Clincher question, one (1)
more question will be asked to break the tie, and so on until a Winner is
declared.
15. The duly registered teacher–coach of the contestant is the only person
authorized to make a protest.
16. All protests should be referred to the Board of Judges immediately before
the Quizmaster reads the next question.
17. The Board of Judges shall be in complete control of the contest. Their
decision shall be final in all questions/protests.
The Create, Show, & Tell contest is open to all bona fide elementary (Grade 3 –
Grade 6) and high school (Grade 7- 10) learners. This is a Team Competition composed
of four (4) members coming from each grade level. The contest gives opportunities for the
participants to design something out of the given materials and justify the created
product afterward. The Committee assigned to conduct this contest will prepare the
needed materials and objectives of the activities of the contest. The competition will be
done publicly to allow other participants to observe.
The contest aims to showcase learners’ vital aspect of fully understanding and
modeling the motion of a robot, whether that be a manipulator or a mobile robot
showing its dynamics. The contest allows learners to create a moving model that is a
representation of a rigid body’s, in this case the robots, motion. This robotics moving
model is also called the robots equations of motion. These equations are a set of
differential equations which can range from simple to extremely complicated.
Participants will be showing their simulation of the program of the robot and discuss its
function in relation to its usability and its impact if transform into an actual prototype.
The objective behind 2024 DSTF poster making competition is to bring out the
creative expression of students and to gauge their knowledge and awareness of various
trends in Science and Technology. The aim of the Poster Making Competition is not just
to judge the students based on their creative aspects but also to trigger thought process
among the students towards recent trends in the field of Science.
The content of the poster shall revolve in the 2024 DSTF theme: “Rebuilding Resilient
Communities: Embracing Science and Technology for a Sustainable Future”
1. Each Participant can only have one Poster entry utilizing the time allotment of 2
hours to complete the entire poster.
2. The poster must be made on the official 1/4 -sized illustration board (provided by
the TWG).
3. Poster can be made using pencil, pastel crayons, watercolor, oil paint, etc.
(participants are requested to bring their own coloring materials).
4. Poster should not contain any personal details like Name, Class, School etc. of the
participants. These details should be mentioned in registration form only.
There will be five levels of competitions in every SIP Fair of the 2024 DSTF, namely:
School, District, Division, Regional, and National Levels. Winners at the School level
advance to the District, District to the Division, Division winners to the Regional Finals,
and regional winners to the National Science and Technology Fair.
There will be three winners for each contest event and will be awarded as First,
Second, and Third Placers. The winners will receive medals and certificates of
recognition. Moreover, the results of the schools’ participation will be counted by the
Tabulation Committee and the following point system per category will be observed and
added to determine the Overall Ranking:
To determine the overall ranking, the points earned by the participants in the
different contests will be given equivalent weighted scores (see Table below), added up,
and ranked accordingly to determine the Overall Champion, 1 st Runner Up -4th Runner
Up.
