ASSEMBLY

1 Like the previous kits of this manufacturer, the exploded view

is very simple and the parts do not require a lot of work prior to
assembly. It will be enough with some touch-ups with the sandpaper
after separating the pieces of its matrix for which we will use good
cutting pliers and a sharp blade. To facilitate the painting process, it
will not be necessary to completely paste all the pieces, but we will
work separately on some of these groups, thus improving the results.
Perhaps the most remarkable is the magnificent sheet of decals that is
included and its high quality.

2 The exploded view consists of the main mechanism box (1) on

the upper left on which the center game board (4) is placed. Also
included are all bumpers and mushrooms (7) at the bottom right that
we must place on the game board. At the end of the box the screen is
placed with the score consisting of two pieces, box (2) above in the
center and front panel (6) below on the left. Also included are the 4
wooden legs (3) on the upper right, the coin mechanism and the ball
thrower (5) in the center on the right.

3 With transparent acetate we can easily simulate the glazed parts

of the board and front screen. With this we will obtain greater
realism and we can represent possible damages.

PAINTING

1 The painting process begins with the application by

airbrush of a uniform layer of RC004 Flat White. This
layer acts as a primer so it will help to fix the subsequent
colors better. The machine is painted with a light blue
obtained from RC010 Pure Blue, 017 Pale Blue and 004
Flat White although the range of possible colors is any. For
bumpers, mushrooms and other rebound mechanisms, RC018
Pale Sand was used as a base.

2 Taking advantage of the white applied as a primer, to

imitate wood where necessary, acrylics can be applied
in the form of transparencies. Maybe the key is the choice
of colors. By combining the AK11100 Light Brown and 11041
Golden Yellow references and applying the color quite diluted
and in the form of strokes and stripes, we will obtain a very
realistic result.

3 Continuing with the base painting process of the different

accessories, we will use the new AK11209 Silver and
11210 Natural Steel metal acrylics to paint the ends of the
legs, some screws and the rest of the mechanisms.

4 Before applying the decals it is advisable to airbrush a

layer of glossy varnish AK502 to guarantee the correct
adjustment and fixation.

5 To apply the decals we will do it one

by one while they are quite large
and we must handle them with great
care. After immersing them in water
and waiting for them to separate from
the paper support, we will move them to
their final place with a brush. To fix them
correctly, specific fixing liquids have
been used.

6 The base paint of the bumpers and mushrooms is also free

and we can use almost any color for it. I have based on some
references and photographs that I found through the web. I have
used AK11117 Golden Brown, 11045 Deep Yellow, 11088 Deep Red
and 11002 Offwhite acrylics for painting and for the application of
some lights.

7 For the application of the shadows, Abt.090 Industrial Earth oil

is used, quite diluted with White Spirit. Applying it with a fine
brush will achieve a fast and very satisfactory result.

8 While it is resin parts, for its bonding we must use cyano type
adhesive. We must pay special attention and care when fixing
the different accessories on the game board since we are actually
doing it on a decal. We will also fix in this step the score panel to
the front box of the machine.

9 Then we can continue with the process of shading with oils on

the main parts of the machine.

10
9
On the wooden parts such as legs and frames of the board
and scoring front panel we apply oils Abt. 260 Oxide Patina
and 070 Dark Rust to shade and apply halftones. We apply them
directly on the area of the piece and then melt and distribute them
with White Spirit.

10
11 For shading with oils, first we apply the oil generally of a
medium or dark tone and little or nothing diluted, on the
work area, ...

12 ... and then we are blending and distributing at our

convenience, being able to repeat the process after
allowing to dry a few minutes, until achieving the desired effect.

13 Finally, on the wood we will apply acrylics in very light

tones such as AK11031 Buff and 11004 Ivory and very
diluted to represent streaks and more worn areas.

14 Details have been included such as

the plug made from copper and plastic
wire, a pair of cracks in the glass that covers
the game board and some other detail that
many will find very familiar if you have visited
the recreational in your youth, that will bring
realism to the whole.
