Methane
Formula: CH₄
Methane is an odorless, colorless, flammable gas. It is used primarily as fuel to make heat and light. It is
also used to manufacture organic chemicals.
Ethene
Formula: C2H4
The simplest of the organic compounds known as alkenes, which contain carbon-carbon double bonds.
It is a colourless, flammable gas having a sweet taste and odour. Natural sources of ethylene include
both natural gas and petroleum; it is also a naturally occurring hormone in plants, in which it inhibits
growth and promotes leaf fall, and in fruits, in which it promotes ripening.

Propyne
Formula: C3H4
Propyne is an alkyne with the chemical formula CH₃C≡CH. It is a component of MAPD gas—along with its
isomer propadiene, which was commonly used in gas welding.
Benzene
Formula: C6H6
Benzene is a widely used industrial chemical. Benzene is found in crude oil and is a major part of
gasoline. It's used to make plastics, resins, synthetic fibers, rubber lubricants, dyes, detergents, drugs
and pesticides.

Trans-2-butene
trans-2-Butene can be used as a monomer unit to produce high molecular weight polyolefins with well-
defined microstructures by nickle-catalyzed polymerization reaction. It is also used as a reactant in the
isomerization reaction to produce the corresponding isomer using acid-activated catalysts.
Naphthalene
Formula: C10H8
Naphthalene is used in the manufacture of plastics, resins, fuels, and dyes. It is also used as a fumigant
insecticide that works by turning directly from a solid into a toxic vapor.

Vinyl Chloride
Formula: C2H3Cl
It's used to make polyvinyl chloride (PVC) pipes, wire coatings, vehicle upholstery, and plastic kitchen
ware. Higher than normal levels of vinyl chloride may be present inside new cars as the chemical
evaporates from new vinyl products.
Trichloroflouromethane
Formula: CCl3F
