It was in 2012 when DOTr and Megawide started to talk about putting up PITX; it was in 2014

when the bidding happened; and only in 2015 it was awarded to Megawide. In 2018, the
terminal became operational.

Being new, a lot of discontent and angst were thrown to Megawide from all directions- from bus
operators, from the existing bus terminal owners in EDSA and Pasay to the riding public.
According to the PITX employees, when they first started, they had to go to Baclaran to literally
plead to bus drivers to try going to PITX to load/unload their passengers.

Fast forward to today, the PITX serves 100,000 commuters per day on ordinary days, and up to
110,000 commuters when there are long weekends or holidays.

The biggest incentive (or come-on) they have provided is that transport operators do not pay
the PITX any single centavo. Buses, jeepneys (modern jeepneys and traditional ones), taxis are
free to queue, pick up passengers, unload passengers. And they each have a strategic location
where the riding public can find them.

There is a guard in the entrance of the terminal. Once a passenger is inside, there are giant
screens of the routes of buses, what floor they are on, which door to take, and the time of its
departure and arrival. There is even a concierge!

Information relative to where the restrooms are, where to purchase tickets, and waiting areas
are conspicuously placed.

To sustain the operation of the terminal, the commercial side is a bustling economy. One will
find coffee shops, fast-food chains, grocery stores, retails stalls, jewelry store, ATM machines,
government centers like LTO and PhilSys, and there is also a delivery and logistics company.

Passengers are ensured of their safety and security by the visibility of police personnel and their
canine or sniffing dogs. CCTV’s are all over the place. PITX’s control center is a state-of-the-art
where computer specialists monitor all the things happening on the ground. Employees
constantly communicate with each other through their Viber accounts so immediate response to
any problem is addressed.
