Responsible Care® is the chemical industry’s unique global initiative that drives continuous improvement in Environment, Health, Safety and Security (EHS&S)
performance, together with open and transparent communication among stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
• Responsible for the various EHS&S initiatives development, maintenance and monitoring progress, under Responsible Care Committee (leadership forum of the
GCC downstream Petrochemical Industry)
• Promote Responsible Care (RC) technical practices, guidelines, best practices and success stories to the GCC chemical industry players
• Project Manager of IT platform for collection and analysis of GPCA Members EHS&S and incidents data base to compliment sustainability reports
• Providing expert advise and coordination to the various Committees, Sub-Committees and Task Forces covering a wide range of issues pertaining to Responsible
care (Process Safety, Occupational Safety, Security, Product Stewardship, CAER etc.)
• Managing the Gulf SQAS (www.gulfsqas.com) program that promotes best-in-class EHSS&Q standards within the regional chemical logistics sector
• Present GPCA to regulatory bodies across the GCC to advocate the implementation of RC efforts to safeguard people, environment, communities and industries
(e.g. Community outreach, Gulf – SQAS, ADR and Global Harmonization System)
Achievements:
• Annual submission of the GCC chemical industry KPIs to the International Council of Chemical Associations (ICCA)
• Published 2019 Performance Metrics report reflecting GCC’s chemical industry status against 22 metrics covering OHS, process safety, emissions and discharge,
resource utilization and distribution metrics
• Facilitated the Global Harmonized System (GHS) and ADR implementation in the GCC – working closely with GSO (Gulf Standardization Organisation) to publish
the Technical Standard
• Connected over 60 EHS&S professionals under Responsible Care® charter from GCC’s leading chemical players (SABIC, Borouge, GPIC, EQUATE, OQ, Sipchem,
Fertil, Tasnee, Sadara, Ma’aden…etc)
