• December 30, 1896, the trumpet sound


signaled at Fort Santiago. The soldiers who
drew bayonets acted as advance guards. Rizal
was in between his defenders. Lt. Luis De
Andrade and two priests and they followed
by more guards.
• Before his execution, the squad of Filipino
soldiers of the Spanish Army troops are
ready to shoot the executioners but they fail
to obey orders
• The Sergeant commanded to hush his men
for silence when they began raising “vivas”
with the highly partisan crowd of Peninsular
and Mestizo Spaniards.

and soldiers waiting for them.

• Rizal's last poem, Mi ultimo Adios


was written between 12:30 in the
afternoon at December 29 and insert
and hide it inside an alcohol cooking
stove which he gave to his sister.
• Rizal was tried before a court-martial for
rebellion, sedition, and conspiracy, was
convicted on all three charges, and
sentenced to death. Blanco, who was
sympathetic to Rizal, had been forced out
of office.

• The friars, led by then Archbishop of


Manila Bernardino Nozaleda, had
'intercalated' Camilo de Polavieja in his
stead, as the new Spanish Governor-
General of the Philippines after pressuring
Queen-Regent Maria Cristina of Spain,
thus sealing Rizal's fate.

heard, he made a supreme effort to
face the firing squad, and his bullet-
riddled body instead turned to the right
with his face facing the morning sun. it
was exactly 7:03 A.M., December
30th, 1896.
• When Jose Rizal died, his death was
the life of the Filipinos. When he died
– Nationalism was born, at the prime
of his life, thirty-five years of age, five
months and eleven days. His Mission
was accomplished!
• Other activities of Rizal on his last two
days;

renouncing masonry,
✓ Writing of his three letters which were
addressed to his Brother Paciano and
his best friend Dr. Ferdinand
Blumentritt, and
✓ The last letter addressed to his father
and mother asking for forgiveness.

• Reading of the acts of faith, hope, and


charity from the Spanish prayer book,
mailing before the chapter altar with a
rosary in hand while wearing a blue
scapular of the Immaculate Virgin
Mary, confession to Fr. Villaclara three
times.
