The Ancient origins of the
Magna Carta and its history
KING JOHN
Magna Carta, which means: Great
Charter, was inspired by people
for many years, Es: Gandhi or
Thomas Jefferson. In medieval
England in 1215 there was King
John, seen as one of the worst
kings in history, who did many
wrong things. Es: killed his
nephew and imprisoned his wife.

DO?
John put stiff taxes on the
barons such as paying dues for
wars but this angered the barons
which prompted them to conquer
London, cornering King John
THE DOCUMENT OF
MAGNA CARTA
In June 1215 the Barons and King John
met, everything was written in the
document that has survived to this
day.
Magna carta inspired many other
documents. a powerful symbol of
freedom displayed around the world.
The most famous. The legislation
remains current to this day. Free men
have the right to do anything on time.
Due process and justice require equal
representation. No one may be held in
custody and one who is placed in
custody shall not be arrested or
imprisoned with a sentence by law of
equal measure.
THE FREE MAN
In reality, this provision was much less loosely worded. only free
people were affected by the charter. the peasants in 1215 lived as
unfree people, dependent on the landlords. The intended purpose of
Magna Carta was to create peace, not war. After the Pope declared
war on England, the country was torn apart by a conflict between
two factions. They declared the Charter null and void due to its
illegality. After King John's death, Henry III (aged just 9)
ascends the throne

IN THE FUTURE
Magna Carta was printed
several times in the 13th
century and eventually became
part of English law. Magna
Carta has been in effect for
800 years and is known in the
United States as ''The
Declaration of Independence''
is a written declaration of
American independence. The
Universal Declaration of Human
Rights derives from a
similarly titled document. As
important as it is priority is
the fact that this is one of
the most significant legacies
that requires everyone to obey
the current order of law.

Thanks to this document
which was initially made
as a specification
document of the Barons,
today we have many very
important human rights.
This document became the
worldwide symbol of
freedom
