I am writing to support as sponsor the visit of Mr HASSAN EL-MOUSTAOUI to the the Schengen area
(Spain then France) for purposes of tourism.

I am Emeritus Professor of French and Film Studies at the University of Stirling, Scotland, and have
taught and written extensively on all aspects of France’s relations with the rest of the Francophone
world, including North Africa. I am now resident in France.

My relationship with Hassan El-Moustaoui is as a friend. I very much wish to give him the opportunity of
spending quality time together and of visiting the sights of Barcelona, then my home in the Beaujolais
region of France. Flights with Ryanair are booked from Rabat to Barcelona on 22 January 2023, then
from Marseille to Rabat on 29 January 2023. Booking is not yet open for the train journey from
Barcelona to Lyon. These dates are outside Hassan’s university teaching period.

I shall provide accommodation at my three-bedroom house in Le Bois d’Oingt, as well as meals. I shall
support him with costs regarding public transport, entrance fees, restaurants, and the like. Evidence is
provided of:

1) my French residency;
2) my income from the UK University Superannuation Scheme;
3) proof of my address at the property indicated above.
