Fe bee: Department of Education launched “Catch-up Fridays” on January 12, 2024 to all public
elementary and secondary schools that will Fridays to catch up reading exercises which aims to
enhance learners’ reading, writing skills, and improve their intellectual capability.
Along with this, DepEd also intensified the implementation of Drop Everything and
Read(DEAR) during Fridays. This program shares the objectives with “Catch-up Friday” but
through letting students learn independently learn by reading books silently.
However, all of the activities and oral recitations during these Fridays are not graded but to
reinforce learning.

Jassel: Jinggoy Estrada is now convicted of bribery charges due to the transfer of Estrada’s
Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) or pork barrel to bogus due organizations owned
by Jannet Lim Napoles.
Estrada was found guilt in one of the direct bribery and two indirect bribery. He will be
sentenced to eight to nine years imprisonment and will be fined Php. Three million.

Mental health is now considered to be a rising epidemic in the Philippines, according to the
Philippine Mental Health Association Inc.
Professionals say that this issue is spreading continuously and should be taken action od of
immediately.
Department of Health statistics shows that at least 3.6 million Filipinos suffer from mental,
neurological and substance use disorder.
“We need to make diagnosis, treatment, and care more accessible to the average Filipino.”
Banaag said.
Despite this, Philippines still lacks ability to support and remains limited and unequal due to
stigma and scarce resources.
