SUBJECT: SC401 OCCURS

SYMPTOM:
An SC401 occurs.

CAUSE:
The operator closes the Duplex Unit with sufficient force, causing the shaft of the Transfer Roller to separate
from the bushings. As a result, the Transfer Roller interferes with the movement of the PCU Shutter,
breaking the PCU gear.

SOLUTION:
Production Countermeasure:
The shapes of the Front and Rear Bushing for the Transfer Roller have been changed. The serial number
cut-in information was not available at the time of this printing.

Field Countermeasure:
If the SC401 occurs in the field, replace the Front and Rear Transfer Roller Bushings with the new style
parts.
