Steamboat Creek: To reach
Steamboat Creek take I90 to
the Kingston exit (43) and
then turn left on Coeur
d’Alene River Road and
continue for 5.5 miles. Turn
left of the Bumblebee Cutoff
road, cross the bridge and
then right on Old River Road.
Continue on Old River Road
for a few miles to the parking
area which is at the
intersection with forest road
400 at Steamboat creek.
From the parking you you
head up Forest Road 400
which is now a groomed trail
At 5 miles there is an
intersection and you can go
either way for more mileage.
Beautiful area here, not too
crowded, lovely views of the
creek and cliffs along it. Trail
is pretty level til you get past
the split at 5 miles.
Shoshone: To reach
Shoshone take I90 to the

run there, we have not tried
that to date. Others have
used Fourth of July pass,
particularly during the week
as this area gets heavy use
on weekends. We hope
