EXPERIMENT NO.

Crystallization
Object: To prepare pure copper sulphate (CuSO4 .5H,0) from corninercial (Impure) copper
(Impure) copper
sulphate by crystallization.

Chemicals required: Impure copper sulphate, distilled water

Apparatus: Bunsen burner, tripod stand, wiregauze, beaker, china dish, glass rod and filter paper.
Procedure: Dissolve impure copper sulphate in a small
beaker possessing about 20 cm distilled
water (One test
tube full) at room
temperature and then heat it and go on
adding impure copper sulphate till no more
amount dissolves, i.e. hot copper sulphate Hot saturated

1.Hot saturated solution of copper
sulphate is prepared.
2. HOt saturated solution is filtered to
remove insoluble
3. Shining blue
crystals arc separated from mother impurities.
4. Crystals are dried by pressing between the folds liquor carefully by de-cantation.
