PCA-Symbolic Frame Worksheet

Worksheet Objectives:
1. Describe the symbolic frame
2. Apply the symbolic frame to your personal case situation

Complete the following making sure to support your ideas and cite from the textbook and other
course materials per APA guidelines. After the peer review, you have a chance to update this and
format for your Electronic Portfolio due in Module 6.

1) Briefly restate your situation from Module 1 and your role.

Role
As a plumbing assistant within the organization ( Samana Home Builders ), my role was
instrumental in ensuring that the plumbing aspects of each home construction project
were executed with precision and expertise. From assisting senior plumbers in
installations to troubleshooting issues and ensuring that everything is done correctly, my
responsibilities were varied and crucial to the success of our endeavors.
Situation
Throughout the project, effective communication and teamwork were paramount.
Collaborating closely with other departments and external stakeholders, we navigated the
obstacles with resilience and determination. Despite the setbacks, our collective efforts
ensured that the construction project was completed on schedule, meeting the high
standards expected by our clients. This experience underscored the importance of
adaptability, collaboration, and resilience in the face of unforeseen challenges in the
construction industry, reaffirming Samana Home Builders' commitment to excellence in
every aspect of our work.

2) Describe how the symbols of the organization influenced the situation.

The symbols of Samana Home Builders weren't just logos and slogans; they were the
heartbeat of our company. They represented our shared commitment to excellence,
quality, and professionalism. These symbols weren't just plastered on walls or printed on
business cards; they were woven into the fabric of our daily work life. Whether it was the
way we meticulously checked every pipe fitting or the pride we took in displaying our
company logo on our trucks, these symbols served as reminders of who we were and
what we stood for. They weren't just superficial decorations; they were the soul of our
organization, guiding us through challenges and inspiring us to exceed expectations.
3) Recommend how you would use organizational symbols for an alternative course
of action regarding your case.
Instead of treating them as static images or empty slogans, we should embody them in
everything we do. Let's celebrate our achievements not just with plaques on the wall, but
with heartfelt recognition and appreciation for each other's hard work. Let's proudly
display our company logo not just on our vehicles, but in the way we carry ourselves with
professionalism and integrity. By humanizing these symbols and making them part of our
daily rituals and interactions, we can strengthen our sense of identity and purpose as a
team.
4) Reflect on what you would do or not do differently given what you have learned
about this frame.
Looking back, I realize that I could have done more to humanize the symbols of our
organization in my role as a plumbing assistant. Instead of just seeing them as corporate
branding, I could have embraced them as expressions of our shared values and
aspirations. In the future, I will strive to embody these symbols in my actions and
interactions, infusing them with authenticity and passion. By humanizing the symbols of
our organization, we can create a workplace culture that is not only productive and
efficient but also deeply meaningful and fulfilling for everyone involved.
