Supplies
I used Scheepjes Catona (4ply/Sport) 50g ball = 125 metres
Scheepjes Sweet Treat (2ply) 25g ball = 140 metres, in the following colours:
You will need to buy 2 balls of the Catania 162 Kaffee yarn which is used for the hair.
If you can’t get hold of the same yarn I used then this website Yarn Substitution is a good online
resource for finding alternatives.
Crochet Hooks: 2mm and 2.25mm hook for hair(I use Clover hooks)
Needle for weaving in ends/Long sharp needle for attaching the head
Fabric Glue or Hot Glue to attach the wig base (optional, you can sew it)

Notes
The doll is worked in continuous rounds, do not join at the end of each round unless specifically
asked to in the pattern.
Use a stitch marker/scrap of contrast yarn to keep track of where you are. I mark the last stitch of
each round.
Sc2tog/Invisible decrease:
Invisible increases: Work the first of the two stitches by inserting the hook into the back loop only,
work the second of the two stitches into both loops.
3dccl
1. Yarn over (yo), insert your hook into the indicated stitch, yo, pull up a loop, yo, pull through 2
loops. You’ll have 2 loops left on your hook and one half-worked double crochet.
2. Yo, insert hook into same stitch, repeat Step 1. You’ll have 3 loops on your hook and two half-
worked double crochets.
3. Repeat Step 2. You’ll have 4 loops on your hook and three half-worked double crochets

Colour Changing
Work on the final stitch before you want the colour change, but stop before working the final yarn
over. Loop the new yarn colour around the hook and pull it through the remaining loops to finish
the stitch. Continue the next stitches with the new colour. If you are alternating colours on the
same row carry the old yarn colour until you need to change again. To carry the yarn simply lay
the unused strand of yarn across the tops of the stitches of the previous row. Then, using the new
colour, work the stitches in the current row and encase the strand.
Fold the wire in half and then fold each end over approx. 1cm (see photo)

Next (use Topaz yarn) you will embroider the flowers on the skirt, use the photos below as a guide:
You will now make the tassels to go on the inside of the skirt in the back loops left from row 2. Cut
a piece of card 13cm long and fold in half. Wrap the yarn around the card several times and cut.
You need to cut 84 strands in total. Use your hook to attach 2 strands to each loop on the inside
of the skirt, (the back loops left from Row 2)

On the next round you will crochet the skirt to the body working through the BLO on the skirt and
FLO on the body. Skip the first 13 sts on the skirt so the split is at the front:
On the next row you will connect the arms. Each arm is connected over 3 sts on Rnd 21, so you will
work through the first stitch on the arm and the next stitch on the body (going through 4 loops)
when you make your single crochet. See picture below to show the 3 sts on each arm you need
to work through. You will work through the stitch marked 1 first. I like to work over the tail end.

Pause here to insert the eyes and embroider the face and crochet the ears:
Eyes
Firstly, insert your safety eyes and use the white yarn to embroider round the eyes as shown on
photo below.
Use Sweet Treat colour 110 Jet Black to embroider the eyes/eyebrows. Follow the photos below:

Nose
The nose is worked across 3 stitches between rows 20 and 21. Thread your needle and bring the
needle out where the yellow dot is, back in where the red dot is then back out where the yellow
dot is 3 times. Knot the ends together inside the head. See photos below:

Ears
The ears are worked into the dc stitches you made on round 23. Insert hook (see photo below)
pull up a loop and ch1, make 6 hdc, fasten off, use a needle to sew the tail ends inside the head
and knot together.
Fasten off, leave a long tail to close the hole but don’t do it yet.

Using the needle sew the 2 pieces of cotton through the neck stump, the first at between rows 35
and 36, the second approx 2 rows down:
Then sew each strand through the neck cavity and up through the top of the head.
Sew 2 through one side and 2 through the other in the spots I have highlighted in red (it doesn’t
have to be exact just roughly in that area:
Push the head onto the neck stump and pull all the stands tightly. Then knot the paired strands
together (so the two skin ends are tied together and the two brown ends are tied together). I

You will now fold stands 22-26 and strand 21 to the right side as shown on the photos below.
When you are happy with the position you can leave to hang loose or sew in place
Fold strands 3,4, and 5 over strands 22-24. Push a white/pearl headed pin through the centre of
the flower and use it to pin the strands in place. You can put some glue on the pin to secure it or
leave it to be removeable. If you are making the doll for a child you might prefer to sew the
strands and the flower to the head.
