Hybrid Separation - Centrifugation & Cross-Flow Filtration: Westfalia Separator Food Tec
Cross-Flow Filtration
Based on a wide range of experience, Westfalia Separator is enhancing and improving its range of services with the technology of cross-flow filtration with ceramic elements. The following are examples of characteristic features in this respect: Separation of substances through a mechanical barrier (dynamic filtration with ceramic elements) Wide range of applications in ultra- and microfiltration Ultrafiltration through pore sizes of 1 to 1400 nanometer
Definable pore structure and channel diameter Wide range of membranes and element geometries Maximum mechanical and chemical stability with minimum flow resistance Resistant to lyes, acids and solvents Renewable filter elements Long Life cycle of installations High availability
Centrifugation
With more than 2500 process engineering applications, Westfalia Separator is the technology leader in the field of centrifugal separation technology. The following are examples of characteristic features of this key technology: Solids separation by means of centrifugal force in separators and decanters Clarification of suspensions Separation of liquid mixtures and simultaneous solids removal Extraction of constituents Concentration and dewatering of solids Process integration as our core competence
Process with gentle product treatment High separating efficiency High clarification efficiency for particles > 0.5 m High throughput capacity up to 500,000 l / h High yield of raw materials used High availability of separating capacities High cost-effectiveness of centrifugal separating technologies over the entire service life
HyBRid
HyBRid Separation the New Optimum in the Field of Separation Technology
The separating efficiency and the broad range of applications of the centrifuge, the precisely definable separation characteristics of the ceramic membrane HyBRID Separation from Westfalia Separator Food Tec ensures that the best aspects of these two separating technologies can be utilised in a single process line. The added value achieved by the users as a result of using HyBRID Separation is generated not only by merely putting together or sequencing two separating processes. Higher product quality, minimising operating costs and environmental compatibility, are based on the application-specific combination of centrifugal and membrane technology. It is customised in detail to meet the needs of production and local application conditions. HyBrid is made-to-measure and fine tuning In line with a customer-specific solution, HyBRID Separation combines the separating optimum of centrifuge and cross-flow filtration. Users benefit from the extremely fine combination of economic and technical parameters, and also from simultaneous harmonisation of interfaces. In this way, modular components, measuring, control and regulating systems as well as the installation layout are combined to produce the optimum solution in each case including pro-active services. Tailor-made solutions provided from a single source: this means that no two process lines are identical. However, in each individual application, HyBRID Separation represents the excellence of the technology leader in the field of centrifugation and cross-flow filtration.
e.g. for producing bio fuels e.g. in the production of clear juices In the field of fruit juice production, HyBRID Separation enables clear juices to be made with premium quality with simultaneous high cost-effectiveness of the investment and production. In the HyBRID Separation process, a relatively small and thus cost-effective separator is responsible for fine clarification, and thus reduces the load on the ceramic membrane modules. A downstream decanter uses the membrane retentate to recover a significant additional quantity of juice, and thus simultaneously reduces the disposal costs. In biofuel production, HyBRID Separation dramatically boosts productivity and performance. The skilful combination of decanters and ceramic elements ensures optimum cleaning of the cold pressed rapeseed oil. The figures which are attained are considerably lower than the limits specified in the draft standard DIN V 51605 without using expensive and labourintensive filter aids. HyBRID Separation ensures a topquality product for local cold pressing of rapeseed.
