 A non-zero number raised to the zero power is always equal to 1.


Example: 40 = 1

 A number raised to the first power is always equal to itself.


Example: 41 = 4

 Any number raised to the second power is always multiplied by itself.


Example: 42 = 4 x 4 = 16
