So our topic for today is connected to the

activity we did which is adverbs of time, place
and manner. But first read the objectives that
we are going to achieved for today’s
discussion. (Student will read the objectives)

 Identify the adverbs of time, place,

manner used in the sentence.
 Construct sentences using adverbs of
time, place, and manner;
 Reflect on the importance of adverbs
of time, place and manner in making
sentences more meaningful and
interesting.

Now let’s identify first what is adverb?

An adverb is a word that modifies
Correct, an adverb is a word that modifies verbs, adjectives, or other adverbs.
verbs, adjectives, or other adverbs.

in the picture.

So first I want you to identify what is the verb

in that sentence? Yes, Ashly I think the verb in the example is the word
line.
Very good! The word ‘line’ in the sentence
“Line up quietly”. Like what I’ve said a while
ago adverb modifies verb. So, what is the
adverb in the example? Yes, Kyle
Quietly
Very good! You can easily find the adverb
because it has “LY.”

Reminder class that not just the word that

has a “LY” is an adverb, there are so many
adverbs. But this time I will teach the adverb
of time, place, and manner.

Now let’s find out what is the difference

between adverbs of time, place, and manner.
First, we have the adverb of place.
 Adverb of Place
Adverb that are employed in a
sentence to describe the location or
the place where an action is taking
place are called “adverbs of place”.
They are mostly found after the main
verb or the object in a sentence. They
can also refer to distances or the
movement of an object in a particular
direction. So basically an adverb of
place explains where the action took
place. It answers the question
‘where’. Here are some examples of
Adverb of place: across, through,
under, sideway, upstairs, etc.

For example:

Play

Behind the trees.

What the girl said?

‘Shall we go inside.’
So first what is verb?
Go
And where the girl wants to go?
Inside
Very good! The adverb “inside” modifies the
verb ‘go’. Did you get my point class?
Adverb of place answers the question

“where” .

Another example is ‘I’m heading towards

Earth.’
So, what is the adverb in this example?
Towards
Exactly! So the adverb of place used in the
sentence is the word ‘towards’.

Any question about the adverb of place?

None, Ma’am
If that so let’s proceed to the next type of
adverb.

 Adverb of Time

Adverb that change or qualify the

meaning of a sentence by telling us
when things happen are defined as
adverbs of time. An adverb of time is
just what you might expect it to be – a
word that describes when, for how
long, or how often a certain action
happened. Technically adverb of time
tells us when the action has been
taken. It answers the question of
when or when the action performed.
For example, early, tomorrow,
yesterday, etc.

Let’s have an example.

Visited

Yesterday

‘You’ll be taller than me next year.’

So what is the adjective in the sentence? taller

Very good. So, the boy used adverb of time

to emphasize the adjective.

Another example ‘Let’s take him now.’

What is verb?

Excellent! Then what adverb of time is used Take, Ma’am

in the sentence?
Now, Ma’am
Very good! Can you follow class?
Yes, Ma’am
Then let’s proceed to the next type of adverb.

 Adverb of Manner
Adverb of manner is help us to
express how we do something. Most
adverbs of manner end with ‘-ly’ and
they can express the speed, volume,
or style with which we do something.
To make it short adverb that
expresses the way of action is called
an adverb of manner. It answers the
question of how the action is
performed. For example, loudly,
slowly, nicely, carefully etc.

For example

‘Someone carelessly dropped this’

What is verb? Yes, Neal

And how someone dropped that thing? Yes,
Warren Ma’am the verb in the sentence is the word
‘dropped.’
Absolutely! So, what adverb of manner did
we use in this sentence? Carelessly, Ma’am

Let’s have another example Carelessly, Ma’am

“Tell him openly how you feel.”

Now what is verb? Yes, Ma’am

And how did she emphasize the word ‘tell.’ Tell, Ma’am

Very good! So what adverb of manner did the Openly

girl used?

Very good! Openly

Now we are discussing our topic about

adverb of place, time and manner.

E. Generalization

Is there any questions/recommendations

about our topic today?
None, Ma’am.
Are you sure? Then let see if you really
understand our lesson. I have here small box
and what you were going to do is to pick one
piece of paper then you will pass the box to
your seatmate. Remember that you will open
