Reasearch Upon MQ4 and Esp-Wroom 32
Gas leaks are hazardous; not only can a gas leak cause air pollution, but it may also lead
to fire outbreaks and even death. Hence Gas sensors work by notifying us whenever
there is a gas leak by releasing an output signal similar to the amount of gas leak.
The Mq4 gas sensor is a MOS (metal oxide semiconductor type sensor) and it is the most
used methane gas sensor in the market, as it isn't necessarily affected by other gases or
alcohol.
Pin Configuration
The pin configuration of the MQ4 methane gas sensor is shown below. This sensor includes
three pins which are discussed below.
Pin1 (H Pins): These pins are two where one of them is used to connect supply
and remaining pin is connected to ground
Pin2 (A Pins): Both the pins like A & B are interchangeable which will be
connected to supply voltage.
Pin3 (B Pins): A & B pins are exchangeable where one pin acts like output and
another pin will be pulled to the GND terminal.
The pin configuration of the MQ-4 methane gas sensor module includes four pins which
are discussed below.
VCC Pin: This pin provides voltage to the module and the typical operating
voltage is +5V
GND Pin: This pin is used to connect the sensor module to the GND terminal of
the system
DO (Digital Out) Pin: This pin provides digital output by setting a threshold value
with the help of the potentiometer
AO (Analog Out): This pin provides output analog voltage which ranges from 0 to
5V depending on the intensity of gas.
As ESP32 IC is available in the QFN(Quad Flat No Leads) package, so it's quite difficult to solder
the IC in embedded projects.
So, to ease the process of using ESP32 IC, Espressif Systems designed numerous small
modules(using ESP32 chip) which have a built-in antenna and easily usable pinout.
The ESP-WROOM-32(ESP-32S) is a WiFi and Bluetooth module using the popular ESPRESSIF
ESP32 chip. The pads on the module have a 1.27mm.

Applications of ESP 32
ESP32 can be used for wide variety of applications in different domains. Few of the example
applications are listed below.
Internet of Things (IoT) Devices: The ESP32's built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity make
it ideal for building IoT devices such as smart home devices, weather stations, asset trackers,
and industrial monitoring systems.
Home Automation: ESP32 can be used to create home automation systems to control lights,
appliances, security systems and other smart home devices using Wi-Fi or Bluetooth
connectivity.
Robotics: ESP32 can be used in robotics applications for controlling motors, sensors, and
actuators, enabling wireless communication and control in robot projects.
Wearables: ESP32's low power consumption makes it suitable for wearable devices such as
smartwatches, fitness trackers, and health monitoring systems.
Audio and Music Applications: ESP32 supports I2S interface, which makes it suitable for
audio and music applications such as internet radio, audio streaming, and MP3 players.
Industrial Monitoring and Control: ESP32 can be used for industrial automation and control
systems, including remote monitoring of sensors and control of industrial processes using
Wi-Fi or Bluetooth connectivity.
Environmental Monitoring: ESP32 can be used for monitoring and collecting data from
environmental sensors such as temperature, humidity, air quality, barometric pressure and
pollution sensors for applications such as smart agriculture, smart cities, and environmental
monitoring systems.
